Is It Safe To Come Out Yet?

A somewhat belated SITREP from the Imperial AO (note to self: Remember to stock can of WD-40 in storm shelter as hinges tend to rust.)

I keed, I keed. We’re all safe and sound. No damage to life, limb or property.

Which, we’re sad to say, is not the case for everybody across the Metroplex. Some areas got hit pretty hard, but no fatalities that I know of, which is usually the case since we’re pretty used to them around here and do a good job of seeking and offering shelter in a hurry. Injuries, yes, and massive property damage across the DFW area, so the insurance companies are going to be busy. But they’re used to that too.

Still, seeing your life’s work destroyed in moments, insurance or no insurance, is heartbreaking and our prayers and support in any way we can give it go out to those who lost everything. It could as easily have been our turn this time.

Springtime in Texas.

Thatisall.

I second that, and hope you have a Bunker (well-stocked, of course!) to go to if necessary, My Liege!

All we have up here in the Pacific Northwest is rain, rain, rain. And I’m not even in Seattle, I’m on the “Right” side of the state! :em01:

Most awesome news !!! I did have some concern for y’all up there in the Metroplex. That was the last thing y’all needed to have happen. We to the south missed it almost entirely. There were reports of some hail in the Round Rock area on the north end of town but saw only rain and ugly looking wx in the more southerly zip codes.

Glad to hear that there were no fatalities. And it’s a nice little reminder that it’s gonna be that season up here in Iowa soon enough.

One of the risks we Texans gladly accept in exchange for the privilege of living in this great state.

We had a small F0 skip across our property in the Houston area earlier this year, damaged a few trees and scared the hell out of the family. With a little luck, this will stand as our close encounter.

We had one of the F5s go right over the top of our house…we were right under the debris ball…and it touched down about a klick north of us and tore up houses as it went a little east on north last April. A scary time for all.

One thing I can pretty much be sure of…the Texans that may have been affected aren’t going to sit on their sorry asses and whine and wait for someone from the Federal Gummint to come along and hold their hands and wipe their noses and tell them everything’s going to be better. I imagine that minutes after the all-clear, Texans were outside with chain saws and prybars helping EACH OTHER.

    Godspeed to all.

A good thing too, because Der Fubar back at 1600 Pennsylvania has no intention of lifting a finger to help Texas under any circumstances.

    Damn straight!!!

On the 6:00 news, they had the “on-the-spot” reporters in the affected neighborhoods, where everyone was helping each other board up, put up tarps, and load possessions into trucks. One neighborhood got out their generators and portable lights because the street lights were missing or damaged.

Good to know all are safe.

It seems that this may be the year to stock up on WD-40, Duct Tape and bailing wire. The warm March does not bode well for the coming months.

For those of us living in the wind tunnel known as Tornado Alley keep your heads down and your non-perishables stocked; I think this is gonna be a long spring.

As for FEMA and the feds, Texas doesn’t generally vote Demoncrat and GW isn’t around to be called a racist so I wouldn’t expect anything in the near future.

    Dear Walnut and Peanut,

How wonderful of you to post here. I’m guessing that makes you the two youngest Rotties ever! Wear it with pride :) Also, with your writing you might end up being the two youngest authors on the Rott!

Thank you so very much for your prayers. I know that with the two of you praying for us, G-d would have to listen. The tornadoes looked a lot scarier on TV than they really were, even though they were plenty scary enough, particularly for the people who got hit by them. But G-d was kind to us and nobody died, though lots of people got hurt.

The heirs are doing well too, and I know they’ll be green with envy when they hear about your new pistols. Princess Buttercup is a bit larger now, but she still thinks she’s a puppy, which can be a bit of a problem when she decides to sit in your lap with all of her 80 pounds worth of dog.

We all love and miss you very much and can’t wait to see you again which, as we say where I come from, will happen all of a sudden and sooner than we know it :)

    Love,

Uncle Misha, Aunt Sophie and the boys.

Igor, where are you up here? I’m out in the country immediately west of Spokaloo.

BTW, for those living elsewhere, sorry about that. Driving down my driveway this morning past the horse in her pasture, I watched the three local whitetail does (two adults and a yearling) criss-crossing ahead of me, one finally deciding to cut left across the hill and my banked sledrun to the copse of Ponderosa trees. All on my little six acres.

We didn’t get any tornados…..but we got a shit load of rain and hail here south of Houston. (I was hoping for BIGGER hail since I can use a new windshield and I had to leave my truck in the driveway due to no room in the garage.)

Glad to hear you are safe and sound, as you have plenty on your plate as it is!

Well there were actually several that got picked up and thrown into residential neighborhoods. I’m in Duncanville. The tornados split us. Arlington to the West and Lancaster to the East.

I had my Oregonian born and raised wife outside showing her What to look for in the sky. Leashed up all the dogs 3 times and got in our tornado hole. Thank God we didn’t get hit, but it was damn close.
