Save Us From Unionized Teachers

We found this over at your good friend Aggie’s place, Hookers and Booze, and promptly stole it:

We shan’t overly belabor that if the “smartest and brightest” are who’s responsible for the never-ending stream of “Einsteins” that our unionized Publik Skools churn out every year, then this nation is in a lot worse shape than we thought. Besides, Aggie makes that point better than we could.

It seems, though, that they’re not all “just too darn busy passing on their brilliant, immense wit to the lil’ ones”, in Buffalo, NY, they’re also quite busy getting nips, tucks and liposuctions all on the taxpayer’s dime. To the tune of almost $6 million/year. In a school district that’s projected to be $42 million in the hole for the year.

Yeah. That’s right. 1/7 of the total deficit is due to Little Johnny’s teacher having to have her boobs made bigger for free. But at least you Buffalo parents can console yourselves with the fact that Johnny might be getting some eye candy in return.

Still, it’s not quite as bad as the Wonder Teacher in Atlanta who got so dang frustrated with her 18-year-old student’s refusal to look at her during class, the disrespectful little snot, that she made up a jury-rigged neck brace forcing the brat to dang well look in her direction during class!

Problem with this brilliant solution from yet another one of those who really should be running the country if they weren’t so busy teaching kids was that the kid couldn’t look in her general direction due to, well, muscular dystrophy and cerebral palsy.

But at least Miss Super Teacher cured him of his affliction, right? Yes and no. You see, the reason that he was reluctant to properly pay his respects to his very own Madam Curie was that he couldn’t breathe when turned that way. Which didn’t change when he was forced by Miss Teacher of the Year to do so. So he, well, asphyxiated. Which cured him, to be sure! Miss Better Equipped than Anybody Else to Run the Country is sure to get a phone call from Ogabe now! She really, truly bent the cost curve!

Unless the parents win their suit, of course, which we somehow can’t see them not doing. Even though we much rather see the kid’s teacher, well, slowly asphyxiated. Make the punishment fit the crime, you know.

Pour encourager les autres.

Public Sector Unions. Is there anything they can’t do?

Thatisall.

    Those who can’t do, teach!
So, we have a bunch of incompetents wanting to instruct others on how to do something. This is NOT a condemnation of all teachers, as there are many who are competent and are teaching because they love the kids and the job. But, there are too many teachers who are teaching because they are incompetent to do anything including teaching. Some of them are good at molesting children or committing statutory rape, and many are good at indoctrinating instead of educating.

    Exactly!

My personal response whenever I run into the “wow, you really must hate teachers!” or “that’s not fair to the GOOD teachers!” is this:

“Yes, there ARE a great deal of good teachers out there, I myself have been the beneficiary of more than my share of them, but the thing that is REALLY unfair to them is that their incompetent colleagues are allowed to stay around and poison the pond. If, IF it was made possible to fire the criminally incompetent ones and reward the good ones, then the problem would self-correct in a hurry and the teaching profession would quickly become no better and no worse than any other profession and people would stop talking about it. Unfortunately, as long as we have unions, that is not an option.”

Is that an update or more PC bull?
We all have our own cute pet names for Mister Winky and reference many more when the topic arises.
Can it be that hard to surrender the fluidity of this voluminous topic with limp demands of proper and correct injection into the verbal descriptive areas?
My needs are small in that area.
I can’t say I have much to offer as an alternative. Just ask my wife!
Ex-prez BJ Clinton calls his, “Little Willie.”
So now we have BJ getting a Monica for Little Willie.
What does Tony Wiener call his?

I’d pay for her Liposuction if they stick the suction wand in her ear.

I observed the phenomenon in college…if you couldn’t cut it in the college of engineering, you eventually ended up in education. The weird part of this is, while I’ve taught both undergraduates and graduate students (part time, to be sure, as an adjunct professor) I am not “qualified” to teach in the pube-lick schools. Apparently, utter dominance of the subject matter (in this case, mathematics) is not sufficient…

There are good teachers, and good public servants, and good attorneys (stop laughing) … but the problem is not that the bad ones have fouled up the otherwise useful institutions that they both inhabit.

The real problem is that the bad ones have corrupted and broken the institutions … rigged them to be endless cesspools where they (the bad ones) can stay and graze as long as they want.

The whole damn thing – government, legal system, etc. – needs to be burned to the ground and rebuilt from scratch in accordance with designs and principles laid out by the founding fathers.

Public education needs to be taken out of the hands of the federal government and the unions and completely redesigned. Almost without exception, homeschooled and private schooled children kick the living shit out of public school kids’ test scores – except where the “public” schools are in wealthy enclaves (like Highland Park here in Dallas).

Some people think that if we just follow the rules of the system, we’ll be able to fix these things piecemeal once we elect the right leadership. Some people are waiting for TSHTF to be the revolutionary spark that prompts the fixing of these things. Fact of the matter is, it’s already too late to “fix” them. A revolution was needed years ago to be able to “fix” them. The only way to make them right – functional, effective and efficient – is to completely overturn what exists now and rebuild it.

Here in Austin, I would add the unionized Bus Drivers to the list of assholes protected by a fucking union. Just a couple examples to back my point.

Awhile back the wife was riding the bus to work. The driver arrived at a stop, exchanged passengers, then shut the bus off (this was like September here and temps were mid-90s) and told the passengers it was time for his break and too bad they would have to wait. He then went to a nearby fast food joint to taking his time to fill his overly ample face.

A few days ago at my store, a driver came in, wading through the lineups at the front registers and literally yelled upon seeing me with this. “You have anyone in the photo department?” I indicated yes. “Well get him over there right now because I”m in a hurry !!!”. Of course he was equally gruff dealing with my photo tech. Total turd and entirely the fault of his union protections, because it’s near impossible to fire these assholes. This makes them believe they are of a special class of citizens, the elite union workers. All hail the unionized workers. By the way this jerk’s bus was stopped at the curb outside with passengers on board. They know it will be a cold day in hell before the local government (monolithic far-left of course) would re-negotiate their contracts.

It’s a very, very telling situation where these hemorrhoids have no respect for their employers. The people. How did this happen you ask? A natural outgrowth of entrenched liberal administrations favoring the unions for their votes. Remember the old saw about paying the Dane-geld? The unions got literally everything they wanted as the demoshits are perpetually afraid of being called meanies. As the union power grew, they realized that the were indeed a special class of people. Now they’re out of control and hold vast power with the elected leftists.

    …mheh….

I once endured similar scenarios with my daughter…..the vice principal of her high school did not smile when he saw me coming. I wish now I had done more, for you see, in my mind beating that woman to death with a baseball bat would be a suitable penalty, or in my mind, a good gut shot, pack the wound with salt, gind my foot into it and wait….even now, my soul gets cold remembering…, yes, killing slowly and painfully would be a sufficient fate. Now with no minor children, I fuck with the liberal school administrators with my letters printed in our local paper. I am told I tell it like it is……funny, that is……………….

The Irish Dragoness growls and barks:

Most of the teachers that I had growing up were excellent and now they are all retiring, which makes me very sad. After I went through my student teaching, while I was looking for a job, I subbed in my local district. There were a lot of new, young teachers who had no idea was classroom management was. Some of the kids I went through teaching college with left me shaking my head and saying, “I hope you NEVER teach my kids.”

I did eventually find a job teaching a private Catholic school and loved it. All the teachers were excellent and loved their jobs! I would venture to say that teachers at private schools are much more invested. Heaven knows we made maybe half of what public school teachers made. We aren’t in it for the money.

I have been privy to the degradation of the Public School System during my own school years.
You see, my parents were both teachers. Of the ‘Old School’. They took early retirement, with
penalty, just to get out. They weren’t the only familial bail-outs: my Uncle, a Cousin, and my current Brother-In-Law, also bailed.

    Case in point:
The new ‘progressive’ Principal at the school my Father taught at decided that an antique period-picture of Charles Lindbergh standing before the Spirit of Saint Louis was passe’, and ordered the school janitor to dispose of it. Dad, being in tight with the janitor, (he ate in the boiler room with the guy, because he couldn’t stand eating in the teacher’s lounge), had said picture “disposed of” to the trunk of his car. It still hangs in a place of honor in my house today. That was back in the ’60’s already! (nineteen sixties, dammit, I’m not that old!)

But maybe not by following the Port Angeles model. There, a teacher who admitted to molesting a child got sent home with a monitoring bracelet while a bunch of townsfolk cheered him on. Turns out the child in question was not a student, but his own son. That being the case, the judge concluded “I don’t find, in this case, at this point, that Mr. Brinkmann poses any danger to the community”. Though it isn’t stated, presumably the son has been removed from the home and does remain in some kind of custody while Mr. Brinkmann remains in custody of his usual full salary pending disposition of the case… or his next raise.

    Video report here.
