I Have Got To Get Me One Of These !

I happened to run across an article on this beaut over at The Blaze. There was no doubt that I just had to bring this back to the dog pound, so y’all can yelp and howl watching the video. This thing is just too cool for words, a serious schhhwiiinnnng producer.

Once you’re done schwiiiinnnngggg let’s just call it a Mid-Week Open Thread.

-Carry On

[P.S. Pray for our neighbors in the mid-west, getting hammered with severe weather and tornadoes. What I’m watching is horrific-JB.]

‘Think I’ll wait for the folding stock version, JB.

And, as a longtime member of a civilization that holds the value of a life over, above and waaaay beyond the value of any bound publication, I believe that anyone who insinuates, suggests, says, writes, or urges any public body to attack US citizens, troops or property are guilty of conspiracy to commit murder and have forfeited any right to continue breathing the atmosphere of MY HOLY PLANET!
One other note: Due to the rising price of ammunition, warning shots will no longer be issued.

Me too, Cheap, me too. Still, I need a smoke.

(Oh, and to whom it may concern (that would be you, Imperial Staffers): Please use the little YouTube button on the post screen for linking YouTube vids so they don’t break the Internets. Just click it, copy and paste the URL of the vid on YouTube and you’re done. Except you have to edit out the “&feature=player_embedded” nonsense, which sometimes comes at the end of the URL, sometimes in the middle).

Example: URL of this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-uV1SbEuzFU&feature=player_embedded

Just cut out the bits in bold 🙂 )

Thanks Boss, that is exactly what has been causing me problems when trying to embed using the Youtube button.

    Imperial Chastisement accepted.

Hmmm ! Think about a version of this for home security….It would be great for those black helos that keep coming over my house . :em05: :em05: :em07:

VonZorch Imperial Researcher growls and barks:

That looks like it would fit into a MK42 5″ gun mount. And this version is finally up to combat power levels. once the bugs are worked out of the free electron laser, those being get it to run at the megawatt level and small enough to put on a ship, things really change. Consider a nuclear powered destroyer with a megawatt laser on one end and a rail gun on the other, capable of cruising indefinitely at speed over 60 knots. If the fusion research works out, with enough power to fire both weapons continuously, for the rail gun that means several rounds per second limited only by the ability of the loader to service the gun.

  9. 9
Igor, Imperial Booby growls and barks:

Been watching the development of this little puppy for some time now – the biggest problem (well, TWO of them) was the recycle time of the gun’s electrical charge, and the friction of the sabot as it travels down the rails. Without getting into the physics, a rapid-fire version would waste anything on the horizon, and since the bullet is hypersonic it causes a helluva mess on anything it crashes in to. Note the sonic waves as it travels downrange.
Good thing Obozo couldn’t cut funding to THIS program like he tried to, it was too far along and showed signs of real success.

I’m sure the folding-stock version is Real Soon Now, Cheapshot:em01:

Act of Valor? Anyone else seen it? Thoughts? I enjoyed it, specially the SWCC’s putting the out the suppressive fire.

    LC Gunsniper growls and barks:

My only criticism of that fantastic electromagnetic squirrel rifle is that there is no lanyard to pull. Pressing a button just isn’t the same.

    LC TerribleTroy @ #10:

I saw it last Saturday. Excellent flick. It was the first time I heard a vulcan cannon in a movie actually sound like a vulcan cannon. I also appreciated the sheer volume of headshots.

  12. 12
LC Old Dog growls and barks:

    LC Gunsniper @ #:
Probably because that the first time a Vulcan in a movie used REAL AMMO! :em01:

  13. 13
    NR Pax growls and barks:

    LC TerribleTroy @ #:
The quick summary: Worth it. There are a few valid criticisms, but they are easily ignored when you realizing that the men on the camera aren’t actors pretending to be SEALs. I noticed that when it was over and the credits were rolling, the audience was absolutely quiet.

And dammit, I want to be the Senior Chief when I grow up.

  14. 14
    Darth Venomous growls and barks:

Well, as long as we’re talkin’ machines & it’s an open thread ‘n all…

    …may I introduce to you – Excelsior.

    ” width=”480″ height=”360″/>

A 2012 Hyundai Genesis coupe. 2.0 turbo four-banger. Not the fastest in the world, but it’s the fastest I’ve ever owned – and it’ll keep up with a V8 or two.

Needless to say, not all the lead in my household resides in the ammo box anymore. “/>

(Well, the damn thing was here a second ago. Anyway, you can see it here.)

  15. 15
    Cannon Fodder growls and barks:

Too bad you can’t just stick Odumbass in one of those. And that thing makes one helluva noise for something that uses no “explosives” to propel the projectile downrange.

  16. 16
Igor, Imperial Booby growls and barks:

    Cannon Fodder @ #15:
Fodder, when you are pushing an amount of air out of the way at hypersonic speeds, you’re gonna get some noise. Sound is, after all, compression and rarefaction waves, y’know…

Odumbo wouldn’t go anywhere – vacuum is not magnetic. Nothing for the EM fields to work on…

Guantanamo’s newest addition: $744,000 soccer field
    By Carol Rosenberg

GUANTANAMO BAY NAVY BASE, Cuba — (MCT) The military unveiled a new $744,000 soccer field on Tuesday, a dusty enclosure with two-toned gravel and fences topped by barbed wire — all designed as a quality of life improvement for cooperative captives.

At last we know where TARP went.

    LC TerribleTroy growls and barks:

I took my son to see the film. And it was quiet in the end . The lad didn’t care for the ending. He also said it wasn’t “like” a action movie. I had to ponder that a bit before I realized that unlike the regular movies the actors weren’t busy “emoting”. They were professionals doing a job in a professional manner. And let’s face it, who wants a emo driven personality behind a gun on their team? Not me. Enjoyed the HALOs and especially enjoyed the youtube vid of the LA primere where one of the guys jumped in at night and sticks the landing on the proverbial red carpet a night.
Definetly on the must have list for the dvd collection. Definetly worth going to the theater (and I hate crowds)

  19. 19
    Delftsman3 growls and barks:

Beth and I went to see Act of Valor last Friday on the opening day; there were only 8 people in the whole theater.

We both thought it was a fantastic homage to our troops and plan to see it again before it closes.

When I heard that Vulcan go off, I had a “moist towelette” moment .

  20. 20
    LC Xystus growls and barks:

“Velocitas eradico?” Is that Dog Latin in the Harry Potter style?

  21. 21

It might be, more likely it is proper latin for “Speed Destroys” :em01:
