Life in the OWS

Or the “Obamavilles”, as some people have taken to calling the various and sundry cesspools of ignorant, smelly liberals stinking up neighborhoods all over.

Such as in New York, where a young girl got beat up for not responding favorably to the sexual “advances” from an attendant and then, when she called the cops on him and had him hauled away, got death threats from his buddies.

Or how about here, in the Imperial Capital itself, where a 14-year-old got raped.

Even overseas in Glasgow the “peaceful” protesters are having fun gang-raping young women dumb enough to get close to their “protests”.

Remember when the Tea Party held their Gang Rape Festivals?

We don’t either, but we’ve been told that they are the “dangerous extremists” over and over again, so it must be true.

Seriously, though. Those perverted, stinking, subhuman beasts are the ones that Ogabe and the NSDWP are tripping over their own tiny dicks to express their sympathy for?

We have a feeling that before long the MFM will be very, very busy with their airbrushes.

Thatisall.

Wella, I keep hearing from both sides about how the violence is well nigh inevitable. I hear from both sides about how it bodes ill for the folks like us, the so-called “right”. I hear that Sharia law, and socialism, national socialism, communism are on the rise in this nation and resurgent in Europe. I hear that the capitalistic “western” way of life may be a thing of the past.

Have any on the left ever read history? Because I believe there are some tens of millions of the would-be “masses” who are armed, trained, and pissed off. And if any government or group of parasitic shitbirds try to get me to slave for someone else, they had better be prepared for me to open fire

Speaking of irony, San Francisco has had enough and the police ordered to clean out the cesspool. The morons resisted and got themselves tear gassed. Now they’re saying the usual gratuitous things about police brutality, civil rights violations, ad nauseum. They are also accusing the police of using flash-bang grenades. That’s utter bullshit, a stun grenade is the last thing you would resort too, rousting out the zombies. The video told the story, the assholes were throwing very large firecrackers at the police. You could see the incoming fuses sparkling as the police are moving forward. They’re totally manufacturing this allegation along with pretty much all others.

San Francisco, the epicenter of American lunacy, the one place in America where they probably have a higher percentage of supporters, is now the FIRST place to start the clean-up. Now that folks is IRONIC. I mean whoda thunkit?

It will end in violence because the professional shit starters (ACORN, Black Panthers, etc) will make damn sure does.

The script is so predictable that Hollyweird has a hundred of’em. The useless idiots are running around worrying about drummers while the hard core Marxists are waiting to strike. First, they’ll get the crowd whipped up into a frenzy then somebody will throw a match on it and then stand back. That match will be a brick at the NYPD, a gunshot at the NYPD, intimidating/brutalizing the neighbors or smashing up the local stores.

Then, as if on cue, the NYPD (and maybe the National Guard just for old times sake) will move in and then the fight will be on. People will get hurt/killed, the media will jizz all over themselves and the cops will get blamed.

Then The First Klingon Fucker with the First Wookie in tow will swoop in like angels to visit the hospital, meet with the grieving families and then have a press conference (crocodile tears included) to lambaste Wall Street/bankers/the rich/Congress/Conservatives/Tea Party/Sarah Palin in order to get more power and more money and setting the table for suspending habeas corpus.

The same script was used in 1917 and 1936.

Misha, this Garfield Leslie guy who was arrested for beating up a girl was NOT an OWS participant, but a drug dealer who frequents the downtown area and has been arrested five times in the past year for trying to sell cocaine. It is like trying to blame all of the customers in a bank when a bank robber robs the place.

Events like this are encroaching on the scum that was already there.

Or how about here, in the Imperial Capital itself, where a 14-year-old got raped.

From reading your link, it appears that this girl has done a LOT of sleeping around and has probably lied about her age. Or the allegations aren’t even true. Nobody knows, the girl isn’t talking.

    LC Gladiator says:

Report: ACORN Is Secretly Helping Organize & Fund the ‘Occupy’ Movement

Going back to the original “source” of this story — FAUX ‘News’ — you will find the standard Agi-Prop tactics that FOX is known for. The “Some People Say” tactic.

Take some time and carefully read the story. Try to figure out who it is that is actually saying this. All you get is the following:

The former New York office for ACORN, the disbanded community activist group, is playing a key role in the self-proclaimed “leaderless” Occupy Wall Street movement, organizing “guerrilla” protest events and hiring door-to-door canvassers to collect money under the banner of various causes while spending it on protest-related activities, sources tell FoxNews.com.

“Sources”. Now read the rest of the article and you get more of the same:

    according to several sources
    Sources said NYCC
    the sources said.
    sources said cash donations
In one such case, sources said
    Sources who participated
    One source said
    Current staff members
    Sources said staff members
    one source said
    Multiple sources said
one NYCC staff member told FoxNews.com.
    the source said.
    the source said.
    Another source

That was just getting through half of the article without once ever having a solid, concrete source for its allegations. But this is how FOX News typically puts out agitation propaganda. They always preface their reports with things like “some people say” when they don’t actually have a real story or source, but are more intent on pulling something out of their collective ass and presenting it as fact. Next time you watch FOX News, count how many times you hear the phrase, “Some People Say”, or “Sources are telling us…”.

This isn’t journalism. It isn’t even factual.

Are members of the former ACORN involving themselves in the Occupy Movement? Probably. But certainly not in a staring role or any form of organization that is running the movement. I am more than certain that the rank and file of those actually doing the occupations in the different cities aren’t there because of anything ACORN is involved in.

And so what if some of the people formerly involved with ACORN are now participating in the Occupy Movement? Were you expecting them to retire and live a quiet life or something?

Oh well, have a nice Friday.

Sorry, but FOX News is the ones who tend to substitute actual people with “sources” or “some people say…” It allows them to make a statement, then quote themselves without having to provide any attribution. It also allows them to take innuendo, and hearsay and turn it into a pseudo-fact. This has been FOX’s stock and trade for years. Most other media news sources have more integrity than that.

I don’t “hate” FOX News, I just don’t believe that they have anything to do with news or journalism. Sadly, the other news outlets are only marginally better. Where I do have a problem is when people cite them as “factual” when you cannot even verify their sources.

:em05: Believe what you like then, it’s the liberal way.

Lemme rephrase that a bit, and add the word “slightly” more integrity. The other news sources (or what passes for them in this country) at least will reveal their sources on most things. They might slant their story, but you can at least see that they talked to an actual person or source that they will name.

Uh huh. You mean like the NY Slimes, or the NY Compost (remember Jayson Blair?), or CNN with their bulleyes superimposed over Bush?

You won’t see the NYT or WP refer to “some people say”, or “sources tell us” when they write their articles. I think you are missing the point — in that story referenced by FOX News about ACORN being behind the OWS movement, there was not ONE FRIGGIN’ NAMED SOURCE to back up their claim. Every subsequent article about the story (Gladiator’s The Blaze link as one example) references the FOX News dot com article as the genesis for this claim. As the claim bounces around the InterTubes, it will eventually bounce back to where FOX and other “news” outlets will be able to declare the story as a “fact” because it is now “common knowledge”. But most people will not have paid close enough attention to understand that the claim was pulled from the ass of a writer at FOX News.

It is the birth of a meme, and that meme will be repeated over and over again as a “fact”. Already it has been regurgitated enough for it to become fact. The Right Wing blogosphere is just giddy with the reposting of the “Facts”, and some are even embellishing the story like in that old childhood game, telephone.

If you want to see some perspective as to what the Occupy Wall Street movement is all about, this is a good and graphic example. It is also a perfect explanation as to how we got to where we are right now.

Anyways, I’ve said my piece and I will take my leave now. I am doing alright, considering, the healing process has been tough, but I have been coming to terms with it. I see things in a different light now. I’m keeping busy and only really have time for this nonsense (and that is what it is, really — let’s not sugarcoat it) about every ten days or so.

Every now and then I feel the need to come and say hi to my friends here, but rest assured, I have no desire to be involved any more that this.

For instance, in 2008,

    the top 1% of earners in the United States paid 38% of federal income taxes;
    the top 5% of earners paid 59% of federal income taxes;
    the top 10% of earners paid 70% of federal income taxes;
    the top 25% of earners paid more than 86% of federal income taxes;
    the top 50% of earners paid more than 97% of federal income taxes;
and the bottom 50% of earners in the United States paid less than 3% of federal income taxes.

In 2009, the top 10 percent of earners in the United States paid about 73 percent of federal income taxes, and about 47 percent of our fellow citizens paid no federal income taxes. In 2009, the bottom 40 percent of earners actually made a profit on tax day because they got more money back from the federal government than they paid in

NYC is not known for the ease of finding public restrooms. Haven’t been there since 1987, but we had to plan our route around museums and such that charged admission, in order to have reasonable access to clean facilities. Any restrooms in restaurants were often not open to the public, even the paying customers. When they were, it was enough to make you want to leave and not eat there.

Yet, when these same liberals come to the country, they complain about a whiff of cow manure on the breeze. In our county, many gravity septic systems were condemned about 10 years ago and outhouses were prohibited, yet both of these methods of waste disposal were sanitary and had worked well forever. In these Occupied cities, the untreated human waste is running off into the storm sewers and then into the nearest body of water. Yet, all of the Occupiers are concerned about the environment? Right.

Gotta say, I love his tag line: “It’s better to look goofy with a rifle, than civilized with an exit wound.”

Around here (and I have spent some time downtown around the Occupy Seattle gathering) things are pretty quiet. There are still the mingling of the street urchins and regular crazies that make the downtown core their home (it is the protesters who are encroaching on their turf, not the other way around.) So it isn’t hard for those who want to make a big deal out of it to lump the two groups together and assume that all of the protesters are criminals, dirty, and crazy. Most of the people who are hanging out down there for the Occupy Movement actually go home at night, leaving a few down there on a rotating basis to actually “occupy”. From what I understand, that is pretty much how they are doing it in other areas as well. People show up during the day and go home at night, and maybe spend a night every few days or so — if they want to.

The problem is, as I mentioned above, the area they are occupying already has homeless, drug addicts and criminals who call it their “home”. So it isn’t surprising that there is criminal activity going on while the protesters are there. It was going on even before the movement started — its just being noticed now because of the media attention.

What’s funny is that there are more than a few Conservatives hanging out down there today. Why? Because they recognize the problem that everyone else has recognized, and that this isn’t a Left or Right issue, it is a Right or Wrong issue. They have different ideas on how to FIX the issue — and that’s alright. The first step is admitting you have a problem. Once you do that, THEN we can discuss what to do about it.

The common thread I’ve heard in the three hours I was down there was that pretty much everyone agrees that the current group of politicians in the Washington Swamp have to go. That means ALL of them. They want money out of government and out of our elections. They want to restore a representative government where the person you put in that office listens to YOU, and not some Pan-National corporation or Big Money.

What, the camping out part? Both did bring attention — which I believe is the goal, is it not? I think there is a slight difference in the sense that people are a lot more in tune with the current economic situation and they weren’t so connected to the loss of life in Iraq. In other words, people are better able to identify with what the Occupy protests are all about. You don’t have to agree with their tactics, causes or “solutions”, to know that there is definitely something rotten in our country right now.

    Elephant Man says:

Just a media driven freak show which is getting its numbers and impact overstated by The Left and the subject of endless mocking and ridicule by The Right.

I’m not sure where you are getting your “news”, but if anything, the media has for the most part been trying to downplay the movement. There aren’t that many people who are participating at any given time — and I suspect that is by design. From what I have been seeing, and from some of the folks I talked to this afternoon, people rotate in and out on a fairly regular basis, and their only goal is to keep a noticeable presence there — an “occupation”.

From what I’ve just heard, several hundred of them got together this evening and marched about a mile up Pine Street to the Seattle Central Community College, where the administration has reversed itself and is now giving tentative permission to “camp” out.

Of course there is that old saying about guests and fish…

I think there are more people jumping on the bandwagon instead of jumping off.

I think it will be the weather that does it in. I know that there is a lack of planning, but really, wasn’t there anyone thinking either? Why start something like this in September KNOWING that Winter is right around the corner. A couple of nights in the snow, and it’s over. I suspect that they will be wrapping this up soon and come back in the Spring, just as the presidential election stuff is starting to take off. If I was calling the shots, that is how I would do it. Practice now, then stop. Come back and make a LOT of noise for the campaign season.

But then, I am NOT running the show, and for good reason — I would much rather put the headphones on and listen to music.

What, the camping out part? Both did bring attention — which I believe is the goal, is it not?

A kid throwing a temper tantrum in a grocery store because mommy won’t buy him/her a candy bar brings attention as well.

While a few might opt for the “give the kid a candy bar so he/she will shut up” approach., most people will just roll their eyes and think “Jeez, what a spoiled brat”.

Most of us progressives aren’t anywhere near that fried.

And there it is. I’m glad you finally dropped the pretense after all these years.

The same goes for political equivalent of wishful thinking. The “It would be nice if…™ “ sentiments are great to verbalize for that warm cozy feeling, but cold reality is usually close behind.

Tell that to the Occupy (Insert location here) crowd.

How optimistic you are! Thinking that we are all going to last that long.

If I’m being too “optimistic”, then doesn’t that make the whole Occupy (Insert location here) movement kind of pointless?

If the end is near, I’d spend my time enjoying life rather then clamoring for attention by railing against “evil corporations” and “greedy jewish bankers”.

Besides, the prospect of watching liberal er, progressive heads explode in November 2012 is just too enticing a scenario to miss.

It is really kinda silly to try and make the connection between the two.

    Consider them connected.

    From the article;

Officers had been given a composite sketch of the suspect and detectives learned he had been at Westlake Park taking part in the Occupy Seattle protests.

Or live in denial if you like.

    Consider them connected.

    From the article;

About as “connected” as anyone else who happens to show up at Westlake Center. This guy doesn’t “represent” the Occupy Seattle group. For that matter, just because I was down there yesterday afternoon, doesn’t make me a “participant”. I went down there to see what was going on first hand. Nothing more, nothing less. I went, I saw, and went home.

    LC Gunsniper says:

    Love, Occupy Wall Street style.

Again, you make this assumption that the predator was part of the group, instead of looking for prey amongst the group. If they catch a child molester who attends your church, are we to assume that all of the members of that church are child molester also? Because that is what you are insinuating.

    Elephant Man says:

And there it is. I’m glad you finally dropped the pretense after all these years.

What pretense? Everyone to the Left of you are progressive. It is all about degrees.

    Elephant Man says:

Tell that to the Occupy (Insert location here) crowd.

Why should I tell them anything? They will discover it on their own and in their own time.

You see, you have me confused with someone who cares enough to get involved. While I find it interesting, there are limits to my interest. I can also able to detect the futility in a lot of things, such as Purple Raider recognizing a scene reference out of The Wizard of Oz and the metaphor that was intended.

The Occupy Movement may not change the world, but it does draw attention to a problem and at least starts a discussion about it — and if that’s all it does accomplish, then they were effective.

    Elephant Man says:

If I’m being too “optimistic”, then doesn’t that make the whole Occupy (Insert location here) movement kind of pointless?

Not really. It is just the alarm bells ringing. What you choose to do when the alarms go off is up to you.

But make no mistake, the road ahead is going to be a rough one. We all know it — you’d have to be comatose not to be feeling it. The other economic disaster is just around the corner, and this one is probably going to make the Great Depression look like a minor hiccup. The ironic thing is, the poor are not going to be hurt nearly as much as those who have more. It is hard to fall when you are already on the bottom.

    Elephant Man says:

Besides, the prospect of watching liberal er, progressive heads explode in November 2012 is just too enticing a scenario to miss.

Did you think there was going to be a big change happening after the next election? All I see ahead is (big) business as usual. I see no hopey-changey feeling happening. Just continuing disaster no matter who it is that wins the popularity contest.

The presidential campaign is just an over-glorified version of American Idol. We get treated to a series of talent shows, and in the end the one who puts on the best show wins. They are given the grand prize of a four-year rent-free house, free trips and transportation, and a $400k cash prize every year for the rest of their lives. They get to make public appearances, and try to remain popular enough to compete one more time.

But as far as actually having the power to do anything? They are all just puppets of the people who are really behind them. (Clue: They aren’t you and I)

So this liberal er, progressive head is not going to do any exploding in November 2012. I made a mistake in 2008 by thinking that Obama might actually be different than virtually all of the previous presidents going back to Kennedy.

I try not to make the same mistake twice.

when was the last time a Tea partier assaulted a cop like this?

    http://tv.breitbart.com/occupydenver-thugs-knock-motorcycle-cop-to-ground/

I have a cousin who is a motorcycle officer in the middle of all that shit, say a prayer for his and his brother and sister officers safety.

    I stand with the cops

Funny how the Brietbart video seemed to cut off the part where the motorcycle cops were running over the tents with their bikes. Frank Roper, the guy who pushed the bike over, was trying to prevent the cops from purposely running over the tents with their bikes. When the cop gunned his bike and ran over Roper’s foot, Roper got mad and shoved the bike.

Of course Brietbart is only going to show the part where the bike got shoved, and not the part where the cops provoked it.

I don’t envy the position the police find themselves in. They are duty-bound to protect the people and keep order. Sometimes the two are in conflict with each other and things get out of hand.

I can’t see any scenario where running over tents and personal property of protesters with motorcycles is constructive in keeping a situation from escalating out of control. All it will do is bring even MORE people down to the protests.

If you want the protests to end, just ignore them. It is a pretty simple concept. The more The Man™ comes down on them, the more people who start to identify with them.

    Deej,

these protests have no purpose and no concrete goals. They are an impediment to the freedom of the public to enjoy their public parks and grounds. They have accomplished nothing and will accomplish nothing but get people hurt if they keep escalating the situation. I’ll believe you about the cops running over tents and such when you show me proof…..

Roper sure runs pretty well for having a smashed foot, I saw where he “almost” got his foot run over…..that’s what you get when you stand in front of a moving motorcycle.

Funny how the Brietbart video seemed to cut off the part where the motorcycle cops were running over the tents with their bikes.

I also see a lot of dismantled tents laying on the ground….rather neatly I might add…..sure doesn’t look like they were run over.

Side with whoever you want man, I still stand with my cousin and the cops

That’s certainly what the MFM would do, such as when See-BS started a concerted mass hysteria about Tea Party “extremism” because they caught one guy standing around peacefully with an AR-15 slung over his shoulder. (The comedy went gold when it turned out that See-BS had carefully edited the footage to avoid disturbing The Narrative™ by revealing that the very orderly, peaceful gentleman was black rather than an angry old white racist militia “nut”).

Today we have a bunch of Nazis showing up in their mall ninja GI Joe outfits at Occupy Phoenix and where’s the outrage? Nowhere to be seen. Presumably because they’re “no part of the ‘Occupy’” movement, unlike that one guy who brought his boom stick to a Tea Party rally and did nothing but stand around with it who is quite clearly proof positive that the entire Tea Party is a bunch of armed militants drooling about murdering liberals in their sleep.

I’m not a fan of guilt by association, I’m merely pointing out the howling hypocrisy and asking everybody to make a quick “compare and contrast” between the Tea Party and the “Occupy and Defecate on [Wherever]” movements. How is it that the total number of violent incidents (not counting the ones started by violent liberal union thugs) and arrests at Tea Party events to this date are zero and zero respectively, while the same numbers for the Occupy rabble are in the hundreds by now, yet we’re not allowed to as much as think that there might be a correlation because that would just be “unfair” and/or “unreasonable?”

Is it too much to ask that everybody play and be judged by the same rules?

    Apparently it is.

As US citizens, they have a Constitutional right to assemble. Additionally, they have a permit from the City of Denver to do just that.

As far as their purposes and goals? They’ve been pretty clear on both, you just need to look past your disgust. They don’t like Big Money in our government. They see the take over of the government by the banks and pan-national corporations, and the HUGE disparity between the wealth of the top 1 percent and the rest of us.

Jaybear, Colonel of Imperial Ancient Artillery says:

I cannot see any scenario where a cop riding over ANYTHING, flat or otherwise would be a good thing. But you only see the one part of the video, there are other videos that show a couple of these cop mowing down tents with their bikes. As I pointed out on your FB post, there are some asshole cops, but most aren’t. All will come to the aid of even the assholes, but that doesn’t mean they approve of their actions. They will just protect their own — and there is nothing wrong with that.

But the point is, there wouldn’t have been a problem in the first place if there wasn’t cops running over people’s property. Problems arise when cops start getting to be heavy-handed.

You have to see this to believe. I am not unconvinced he is not the infamous “Um Yeah”. Yeah, he is THAT idiotic, clueless and relentless. Gets annihilated EVERY thread yet ALWAYS comes back for more day after day, week after week, year after year.
