…expecting a different result and all that, not that His Imperial Majesty is at all even remotely convinced that the NSDWP and their Führer are expecting different results, but still.
Guess what’s been happening while everybody has been obsessing about Solyndra? Well, everybody except the media, of course.
DoE is about to hand out another billion of your grandchildren’s money to SCOAMF’s green energy friends, that’s what.
DOE announced a $737 million loan guarantee to help finance construction of the Crescent Dunes Solar Energy Project, a 110-megawatt solar-power-generating facility in Nye County, Nev. The project is sponsored by Tonopah Solar, a subsidiary of California-based SolarReserve.
The Energy Department says the project will result in 600 construction jobs and 45 permanent jobs.
A mere $16,377,000 per job “created or saved”, cheap!!!
Of course, the fact that they’ll only last a year is immaterial. You give His Imperial Majesty 16 cool mil and he personally guarantees that he’ll create more than one job and that it’ll be around for a great deal more than a year too.
But, of course, we’re not exactly on the Friends of Ogabe™ list, so that’s not likely to happen.
“If we want to be a player in the global clean energy race, we must continue to invest in innovative technologies that enable commercial-scale deployment of clean, renewable power like solar,” Energy Secretary Steven Chu said in a statement. “Solar generation facilities, like the Crescent Dunes Solar Energy Project, help supply energy to local utilities and create hundreds of good, American clean energy jobs.”
“Hundreds” as in “45.”
Math is hard, you know.
Of course, if any of those “good, American clean energy jobs” were actually likely to stay around for longer than it takes His Imperial Majesty to empty a bottle of Russkiy Standart, there’d already be a line of investors begging to throw money at them. But they aren’t, so there isn’t. The only ones who can afford to throw money into a furnace with gay abandon are the thieves of the SCOAMF administration who aren’t, after all, throwing their money anywhere.
But wait, there’s more:
The Energy Department also announced that it had finalized a separate $337 million loan guarantee to Sempra Energy for a 150-megawatt photovoltaic solar generation project in Arizona.
The project will result in 300 construction jobs, DOE said.
As in “300″ temporary jobs that will disappear the day after the construction is complete, which will be the same time that the facility they just built will be closed as their owners file for Chapter 11 protection.
Aren’t you glad that your children and grandchildren’s futures are being destroyed for that?
Such a deal!
The decision to finalize the loan guarantees comes just days before the Energy Department’s advanced energy loan-guarantee program, which was funded under the 2009 stimulus law, expires.
Which, of course, has nothing to do with why they were rushed through. In fact, they weren’t rushed through at all:
top Energy Department officials say they will not approve any projects without subjecting them to detailed analysis.
Every single bit as detailed as the horrifyingly detailed analyses that led to the approval of the Solyndra loan, we’re sure.
Seriously, this shit needs to stop, and it needs to stop yesterday.
UPDATE: Thanks to LC ORWN and Sestrichka Nicki, we learn that one of the company getting the $737 million of your grandchildren’s money’s investment partners, PCG, has a number two honcho who goes by the name of Ronald… Pelosi. Funny how that name rings a bell, isn’t it? Yes, you’re right, he is actually the brother-in-law of Stretcher Piglousy.
And if you think that’s it, you’re wrong again. Turns out another investment partner of SolarReserve, Argonaut Private Equity, is managed by one Steve Mitchell who, in a stunning conincidence we’re sure, was formerly on the Board of Directors of, you guessed it, Solyndra. (Link.)
We suppose that we should stop making fun of Piglousy’s comments about “crony capitalism” since it appears that nobody knows more about the subject than she does.
So that is what the DoE’s “detailed analysis” is all about? Check to see if applicant is eligible for Comrade SCOAMF’s Friends and Families Program™ and, if so, approve the application immediately.
Yes, we know. It’s truly shocking, isn’t it? Who would have thunk such a thing of the most Ethical Administration EVAH?
