Saturday Night Live is a hit and/or miss show, and has been for … well, at least forty-something years or so.  But that’s the entire point of the show, it’s improv.  Spur-of-the-moment, roughly rehearsed, if at all.  I have my favorite players, and many of them left at the end of this past season, so I’ve been expecting the current season to be more of a dud that usual.

Turns out, that it’s pretty damn funny, relatively speaking.  I mean, low bar, and all that, right?  But I was watching it today on Peacock and caught this hilarious bit about the 2024 election cycle called:

Heh! Not bad but not enough for me to want to watch the program again. I guess I am spoiled because I watched the original cast with Belushi, Aykroid Curtin and Radner from, 75 to 79. That is the metric against which to compare. IMHO the cast they ran up to the early 90’s held up pretty well, after that… Read more »

Actually, that was pretty hilarious. It’s good to see that humour might be making a reappearance, and I don’t just say that because I agree with the overall “message”, it’s because it’s a sign that at least some people are beginning to wake up to the fact that humour has to be funny to work.
