Liberal Authoritarians

While I was still laughing (and crying over the absolute disrespect of Sgt. Monti and his family) over the Ogolfalini’s lastest gaff, came across an excellent piece written by Princeton University professor Robert George, entitled the Mirror Of Justice.. Professor George posits the contrast between what should be called classic liberalism and what we see today, which he calls “comprehensive liberalism” or authoritarian liberals. The good professor makes a good case in the relatively short post.

Catholics should note that this case stems from a lawsuit being filed against Catholic University. The suit essentially describes CUs attempt to reestablish catholic moral standards on campus, by returning to gender separate dorms. This is where we see the very ugly side of liberalism at play. Indeed as the professor writes, we see today’s liberalism as attempting to establish their ideology through government as a quasi-official state religion.

Does this sound like what any rational person could construe as gender discrimination?

President Garvey’s objective (of which this particular change of policy is only a small piece) is to promote moral integrity as the Catholic Church understands that virtue and to combat the culture of promiscuity and alcohol abuse on campus.

We really need to watch this further encroachment on Judeo-Christian values through government. Clearly this falls into the realm of violating the establishment clause, and how the courts if this proceeds, react.

Stay tuned.

btw- Anyone notice that gas prices are dropping and have been for a few weeks? Along comes Ogabe to release a DAY and A HALF supply of oil from the SPR so he can take credit for dropping gas prices already in progress. Odd that, eh? Once AGAIN, the administration thinks we’re stupid and won’t notice.

And, AND….any doubt that cocksucker has any respect whatsoever, for the military after yesterday? Very VERY telling isn’t it? It would be interesting to contrast this with W’s memory regarding the 11 awards he presented in office.

It would be interesting to contrast this with W’s memory regarding the 11 awards he presented in office.

And we all know what the press’s reaction would have been had W. made the same mistake.

It would be interesting to contrast this with W’s memory regarding the 11 awards he presented in office.

W knows each and every name, every story, and still stays in touch with some of the family. He truly cared for his troops, and each and every loss he took personally. Not very widely reported since it didn’t fit the medias narrative, but true nonetheless.

And the troops knew a real leader who cared for them, their mission, and our nation. To even attempt to compare the two is nothing more than a depressing slap in the face, and a sad reminder of where we are, and what we face.

If they want to have sex in the road, they can go to another school! It’s just revving up, folks. Two lesbians sued a Methodist church in New Jersey because the minister wouldn’t “marry” a homosexual couple. But he has no right to his own beliefs, nor the church to its own moral standards, you see.

AND New York passed the homo marriage bill tonight. Against the will of the majority of New Yorkers, and after a relentless ball-kicking campaign by the Queer Nation. Which is planning already to add to their sick triumph of forcing the Catholic Church to stop their adoption program in Massachusetts: they didn’t want to hand baby boys over to male homos, for some reason.

Just what we need: to call this normal:

These are photos from San Francisco’s Folsom Street Fair (Oboner would love it). But hey! who are we to judge? (Utterly NSFW, to the 10th degree.)

Mind you, the same people who wail and bitch about the homosexual Catholic priests molesting boys are the ones who say we HAVE to give baby boys to these people to “raise” if they demand it, or we’re, like, you know, Bigots or something.

Possibly the understatement of the millennium from the Mirror of Justice link:

there is an authoritarian impulse in some liberal circles

Recognizing the term Liberal as it is used today, it’s not hard to see this borne out. Scoured from the vast intertubes:

If a conservative doesn’t like guns, he doesn’t buy one.
If a liberal doesn’t like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.

If a conservative is a vegetarian, he doesn’t eat meat.
If a liberal is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned.

If a conservative is a homosexual, he quietly leads his life.
If a liberal is a homosexual, he demands legislated respect.

If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
A liberal wonders who is going to take care of him.

If a conservative doesn’t like a talk show host, he switches channels.
Liberals demand that the channel be shut down.

If a conservative is a non-believer, he doesn’t go to church.
A liberal non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced.

If a conservative wants health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.
A liberal demands that the rest of us pay for his.

If a conservative is a non-smoker, he frequents establishments that are non-smoking.
A liberal non-smoker will seek to ban smoking in all establishments.

On the other hand, can anyone provide some examples of Conservatives (as the term is used these days) wishing to legislate away behavior they don’t like?

LC Sir Rurik, K.o.E. growls and barks:

Instead of “comprehensive liberalism”, perhaps Professor George should have called it “total liberalism” … or totalitarianism. Or is that another term banned in the name of free speech?
