Cool Video Of The Week
I stumbled onto this today over at The Blaze. The video is from a Very Large Telescope (VLT) array in Northern Chile. The video is absolutely stunning, and the sound track is a perfect match too. This is like pr0n for a high-tech redneck like myself. Enjoy !!!!

Everytime we look deeper/further into nature,, we and our human aspirations are again reminded how small we really are.. and temporary.
‘Hope we can land on the moon one more time,, ‘put some really sensitive gear over on the dark side away from our glare n’ blaring noisy frequencies.. *sigh*
The rocks that’re on their way to end all of our petty Earthly discussions have been on course since way before the planets cooled.
We have the technology to do something about them (there’s a LOT more than just a few),, but,, we’re too busy with our other mortal endeavors to bother,, easy as it would be.
Thanks JB,,
Therein lies the truth. We look into the cosmos and see our existence as trivial, yet useful only if we can make an impact on our tiny world.
How can one imagine there is no creator looking at the majesty of the heavens. It’s foolish to think that it’s all a random event….really?
JB sez:
there are some things that cannot HELP but be divinely inspired and created. I remember spending lots of nights in the observatory at the University of Colorado doing nothing but staring through the telescope and going “damn, this is so cool”…..even then, at the height of my stoner/drunkard days I marveled at Gods creation.
The universe, an ocean teeming with life, the stars, masterpieces of human inspiration like Handel’s Messiah and Michelangelos Sistine Chapel frescoes, all have the hand of divinity in them. They strengthen my belief, how could they not.
Agreed….1000% Brother !!
‘Wonder where we’d be if science had not been treated as heresy for 400 years, and we had spent that time on something other than deciding who’s brand of which religion is going to run things,,like we are still doing,,, *sigh, again*
Not so much foolish,, things going on out there are no more random than the ball trajectories in a game of snooker. Or marbles.
Everything going on in the cosmos and beyond happens as a result of something else going on. Forces and bodies upon forces and bodies. When we’re done meditating on the mish-mash, and construct better ways to see, measure, discover,, understand the physics,, the appearance of “random” will diminish,, replaced by constructive knowledge.
(Glances at calendar for last shuttle launch) ‘Hope it won’t be another buncha centuries before we get interested again.
Stunning. Spectacular! The Milky Way is so clear. Wow.
This isn’t on topic, but it’s also uplifting. A contrarian friend sent me the following account.
Rock on, sistah.
LC Cheapshot911, Dept. of Redneck Tech sez:
I watched 2001: A Space Oddysey for the millionth time last weekend, the vision of what our space program could have been is so glorious in that movie…..too bad we let the social engineers and special interest/whiner/victimizer groups get their way and defund the one thing that really progresses mankind, i.e. exploration and discovery.
Here’s hoping that we let NASA start exploring space again, think of the jobs and benefits it would produce. Their new emphasis on muslim outreach and green projects just seems so bland and pointless.
Tallulah, it’s a good pic, (if you’ve seen it) the description is a bit of fiction however. The woman in question, Senior Airman Polly Jan Bobseine is one hell of a soldier…… no need to pad her stats.
It seems my link-fu is weak……..

Your Highness, this one’s for you ..
Geert Wilders cleared of ‘hate speech’ charges
Unless I am imagining things, someone in Eunuchistan actually had sprouted a pair ..

Sir Fresh Sign
Yes, thats our galaxy.
You can see the Milky Way from anywhere except the big bright cities.
thanks Cheapshot, that’s what i thought.. i gotta get out of this hellhole in the Bay Area more often and see the stars as they are.
It’s real nice here in Dog Patch, USA…………….
