Charge of the Light Brigade

By now everybody’s heard of the National Review’s “Against Trump” issue, in which they, as one, step up to distance themselves from that horrid “vulgarian”, Donald Trump, citing his lack of core, orthodox conservative principles (questioning if he has any at all) and loudly proclaim, suddenly rediscovering one of their founder’s most famous sayings, that they intend to “stand athwart history, yelling stop!”

If only they’d remembered that mission statement every once in a while over the past 16 years, perhaps it would have resonated with anybody but themselves at this point but, as they say: “too little, too late.”

We do consider it principled and brave for them to openly put out this manifesto of theirs, it can’t possibly help them with their readership, quite a few of whom, we suspect, are “trumpets.” Besides, it is their right to make a stand as free Americans.

Further, not many, if any of their allegations against Trump are really in dispute at this point. But, at this point, it really doesn’t make a difference.

A principled stand is ever so more effective when it doesn’t come about as a last howl of frustration and desperation after years upon years of standing by, waffling about coming up with excuses for the Quisling GOPe who have been endlessly stabbing Americans in the back in return for their votes.

Where was the “Against McCain” issue? The “Against McConnell” one? The “Against Boehner”, issue?

If any of those ever existed, we must have missed them.

Yet those traitors, and they are only three of an endless stream of GOPe traitors to the people who put their trust in them and voted for them, are what brought us to this place.

And the American people are sick and tired of listening to philosopher kings pontificating about deep ideological issues and making up excuses for the Ruling Class while Americans are losing their homes, their jobs, their healthcare and even their damn country as a result of those Quislings and their actions.

The GOPe long ago abdicated their duties to the people actually voting for them and have, for years upon years upon years now, not only betrayed those hardworking Americans, but also added insult to injury by calling them “fascists”, “Nazis”, “xenophobes”, “wacko birds”, “hobbits” and more while vowing to “crush” them for daring to speak up.

So the American people are pissed off, and rightfully so. Furthermore, they’re in no mood to listen to yet another sermon from the philosopher kings about how they’re all being so terribly impure, unreasonable and immature and seriously, you ignorant peasants just need to leave it to us to give you what we have determined is best for you.

So along comes Trump. He hasn’t spent decades pissing down the backs of Americans and calling it “rain”, he hasn’t spent decades insulting good people who are nothing but concerned about losing everything that they have worked hard for their entire lives and, perhaps most importantly, he does speak out about those issues rather than the Ex-Im bank or the nuclear triad. Loudly and provocatively.

Is there another candidate who also speaks out about those issues? Yes, there is. Ted Cruz. But he just didn’t have the recognition or the willingness to bring the case to the people loudly, not to mention he had to deal with years of his Senate “colleagues” stabbing him in the back every chance they got.

He is indubitably the more conservative of the two and would, in our opinion, make for a much better president, but in order to do so you need to bring your case to the people and for that to happen, you have to embrace a bit of populism. Sorry to say so again, we’ve done so plenty of times in the past, but it’s true.

It doesn’t matter how sound your ideas are, how deeply rooted your conservative principles, how many books about conservative thought, philosophy and principle you’ve memorized if you can’t get it out there. If you can’t rile a crowd up, you can’t get them to the polls either. It really is that simple. If you can’t get out to where they live, both physically and emotionally, then you might as well be presenting a 9,000 slide Power Point about the price of yams in Bangladesh.

And that really is too bad, but here we are.

So NRO, GOPe and the rest of you endlessly yacking sermonizers: If you feel down right now, you’re not alone.

But give yourselves a huge pat on the back because, you know what?

YOU BUILT THIS!

Thatisall.

Interesting how the GOP(e), (I prefer to use the parenthesis when referring to the Asstablishemnt Republicans), cut ties to the NRO regarding the debates.

Is someone seeing the writing on the wall?

This is a truly a fine essay!
This is the stuff NR itself should / could have written and everyone would see the point!! But they fell into the usual trap.

Well NR, now won’t have a seat at the table, or any influence with Trump in the future to lend guidance, or anything else. Smart Move? Buckley or Reagan would not have jumped the gun this way. A president is actually who he surrounds himself with. It won’t be NR.

Buckley wouldn’t support Reagan. He was a “B” list actor from California. What would he know.

True. But I can’t believe NR would be such chicken sh*t. Totally mis-directed no? Actual and factual traitors are running the government and this is what they come up with? Whomever they are trying to impress are long dead and buried.

Whoa! Over at Vlad’s place it appears the Prussian jackboots (the good ones) are pushing back against the political class…. keep the popcorn handy. Would not have expected Austria to take the lead, but who knows, they may have more backbone than the Germans now and note the Swiss are already on the way to locking out and ejecting undesirables.… Read more »

Would not have expected Austria to take the lead

Why? Don’t you recall the last Austrian who decided to take care of things in Germany?

Heh! Of course I recall one wimpy Feld Webel from WWI that ended up taking charge of the German National Socialists.

It is simply an observation that the modern EU incarnation of the military seems to be dominated by marshmallow officers, not “Iron Chancellors”.

Will ship 10 20 LBS of popcorn to the next Rottfest or delivery point of choice when the lid blows. If it happens before Jan17, 2017 we are in for real entertainment as Ogabe dithers and Dearbornistan (and a few other locations relatively near Chiraq) explode. The shooting count in Shitcago as my old Scots friend used to say, is already past 100 for the year.

I haven’t been following the body count out there. Is that 100 DOA or only wounded?

Here be the stats for Chicago shootings: http://heyjackass.com/

37 dead and 196 shot and wounded – total shootings as of yesterday 233, heck, downtown Baghdad is probably safer.

By Larry Correia 01/22/2015 (Its a Fecesbook link so if you are on there you can do a search for it) In the spirit of that National Review pile on, here is mine to the Trump supporters. It isn’t as polite as National Review. When Trent Lott, Bob Dole, John McCain, and Orrin Hatch would all prefer Trump over Cruz,… Read more »

What Library Czar said – in spades, but I fear there are too many low info voters that seem to have decided populism beats socialism and they are too stupid ill educated to know both are the same face on the coin with Marx smiling on the obverse.

Well, next week Trump is having a gathering near me and I managed to get a golden ticket. Perhaps I’ll go and scalp the ticket?

I figure I could get a couple of hundred for it, and I paid nothing.
