If You Don’t Know How the Game Works, You Shouldn’t Opine on it, Allahpundit

Just a thing I picked up on while reading another “deep thought analysis” from Allahpundit.

Cruz is going around telling reporters “it’s no surprise that more and more of the establishment is beginning to support Donald Trump” and meanwhile here’s Trump saying, yep, that’s correct. That’s a weird move to make in a season of populism.

No, it’s not. It’s perfectly logical, and it demonstrates perfectly how a lot of “pundits” don’t really understand what they’re “punditting” about. Which, again, explains why they haven’t got the faintest idea what’s going on in this particular primary and, as a result, keep getting baffled by it.

They’re like the allies in 1940, getting badly beaten because they insisted on fighting the previous war rather than the current one.

Allow us to elaborate: Airheads like Allahpundit are so mired in how things “used to be” that any deviation from the “norm” seems like a misstep to them. Let’s analyze the quote a bit.

Big donors are beginning to knock on Trump’s door. Trump the populist who is beholden to nobody, according to his campaign. And he might be. He certainly doesn’t need the Donor Class to keep this going, unlike 100% of previous candidates. But that’s not the point. The point is that of course they are. It’s what they do! They’re trying to buy influence in what they perceive to be the leader of a new administration. That’s what they’ve always done. Why wouldn’t they? They’d be idiots not to.

There’s no “scandal” there, it’s just what has always been going on. But here’s the difference: Trump says so. He doesn’t try to hide it. Why should he? The fact that you have lines of peddling salesmen beating a path to your door doesn’t mean that you’re going to buy what they’re offering. What it does mean is that they, the movers and shakers, the ones with money to burn and interests on the line, are beginning to think that “this guy might just win this thing, so we’d better make nice with him.”

How is acknowledging that powerful interests who previously had written you off are now, all of a sudden, tripping over each other to buy a spot on your coattails NOT a good idea?

Sure. “Hey, look at me, I’m popular” never worked, did it?

Now compare and contrast: When Trump started rolling out attacks on Cruz for cozying up to moneyed donors, a blatantly unfair attack in our opinion because, again, that’s what moneyed donors DO, they’re acting out of pure self-interest and it’s really hard to prove who was doing the cozying, what did the Cruz campaign do? Did they acknowledge that big money was showing an interest in them or did they waffle around and try to hush it down?

THAT is stupid. Because now you’re pretty much guaranteeing that the voters will think “he’s got something to hide”, whether that’s true or not.

Advantage: Trump. And we do hate to say this, because we still believe that Cruz would make a much better president. But facts are facts, even if morons like Allahpundit don’t recognize them, even when they’re kicking them in the groin.

And so on to our final note, which doesn’t have a whole heck of a lot to do with the above, but we do feel a need to point it out:

Could we please, Cruz supporters like ourself and Trump supporters like a lot of you, stop this internecine nonsense?

You DO realize who’s really behind the stoking of the flames between our two camps, don’t you? Of course you do, because you’re not idiots. But if you’re wavering, consider this: Who, exactly, does a fight to the finish, no holds barred, all out war between Cruz and Trump supporters benefit?

If you said “the GOP Establishment”, you win a prize.

It doesn’t take much extra effort to realize who’s behind it then, does it?

The GOPe/Donor Class are getting desperate. They see their ticket to the gravy train threatened, and if there is ONE thing that they fear more than ISIS/Socialism, it’s being cut off from their Free Shit™ paid for by the rest of us.

Their last hope is that you Cruz/Trump supporters, in case your preferred candidate doesn’t win, will either:

1) Stay home and hand the candidacy to the Prozi Party, which will almost certainly guarantee their seats in a future Quisling collaborationist government or

2) Go vote in spiteful disgust (because that asshole who beat my preferred candidate ain’t going to win even if I have to vote for ¡Yeb! to stop it!) for the GOPe candidate, which will almost certainly guarantee their seats in a future Quisling collaborationist government.

Don’t let them get away with it.

We’re all pissed off at the constant betrayals from the GOPe, and we’re all, Cruizers and Trumpeteers alike, sick and tired of the status quo, the status quo which has been ramming spike-studded 2x4s up our arseholes for decades.

We have our preferences when it comes to who would be better at upending that rotten apple cart, but the fact remains:

There are only two candidates in this race who can do it.

May the best one of them win, and then let’s go on to destroy, TOGETHER, the GOPe/Uniparty tyranny we have and build something better on top of the ruins.

Don’t let the Uniparty splitters destroy us from within, because we’re running out of time here.

I hope these two can keep the attacks and mud slinging “professional” and not personal. A Trump/Cruz administration would probably topple many empires as it were.

I am personally hoping that Trump pick Cruz as his VP, does one stint as the Pres., and then says Cruz is the candidate for ’20. This would cause a shitload of consternation (and constipation) with the GOPe and demoncraps alike.

Why is no one commenting on the humiliation Iran gave to our sailors by holding them at gunpoint? I don’t just mean commenting here, but the media brushed it off like a fly. It was like a bad flashback.
