Sarah Brady Dead at 73

Yes, THAT Sarah Brady, the one from the Brady Campaign To Prevent Gun Violence.

It’s hard to comment on something of this nature. The old adage of not speaking ill of the dead, among others comes to bear.

One has to almost – notice I said “Almost” here before you lash out and  take my head off – admire the woman’s dedication and tenacity for her cause. That it flies in the face of the US Constitutionally protected right to keep and bear arms is another fight entirely.

She was in fact, a true believer in abolishing the 2nd Amendment and she helped pioneer the slight of hand and speech to enable it, with such ambiguous language like “commonsense reforms” and helped to, if not down right perfected, the  art of soft pedaling it to the public to make it more palatable. One only needs to look at both Brady Non-Profits mission statements to see an example of her and other Brady activist leaders “soft” approach to banning guns.

The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence works to pass, enforce, and protect sensible laws and public policy that address gun violence at the federal and state levels. We do this by engaging and activating the American public, electing officials who support common sense gun laws, and increasing public awareness of gun violence. Through our advocacy campaigns and Million Mom March and Brady Chapters, we work locally to educate people about the risks of gun ownership, honor victims of gun violence, and pass sensible gun laws.

The Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence develops and implements extensive public health and safety programs and utilizes the courts to reduce gun violence. Through our Legal Action Project, we represent victims of gun violence in cases against irresponsible gun sellers and owners. Through our public health and safety programs, we inspire safer attitudes and behaviors around the 300 million guns already in our homes and communities and new gun purchases taking place every day.

Alas, the devil is always in the details….Both the current “Brady” campaigns as they exist today have ties back to organizations such as “National Council to Control Handguns” (NCCH )est. 1974, later to be renamed in 1980 as  “Handgun Control Inc”  who briefly was  partnered with the National Coalition to Ban Handguns (NCBH) which in turn,  made no bones about it, and advocated for the banning of all handguns.

The NCBH and NHCC split when the NCBH, renamed itself in 1990 as the “Coalition to Stop Gun Violence” (CSGV). The NCBH then  was absorbed by the Brady Campaign in the mid 80’s as the much softer sounding – “Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence”. The CSVG Continues on today as its own organization and lobbying machine. It routinely attacks the NRA and GOA and labels them as an “Insurrectionist “groups  However, a quick visit to their page and a little reading – one can see quickly that they are using some of the same Brady Tactics, the renaming of their groups is one flag, and then the site is literally polluted with the “common sense gun control” mantra.

Additionally, that the very same Brady gun control machine was critical to the passage of the 1994 “Assault Weapons Ban”, Sort of gives lie to the soft sell mission statements above. Make no doubt about it, the Brady organization in whatever guise – wants guns banned, “assault weapons” Hand guns, Rifles, all of them. They may not come out and state it, but it doesn’t take a PhD to figure these folks and the CSVG types out.

That the Brady’s exploited a personal tragedy and made it their public cause, isn’t really disputable.  That James Brady was Ronald Regan’s Press Secretary at the time of his attempted assassination, gave them an intimidate leverage and a vehicle to further push their cause and agendas and as noted above, they absorbed more than one hard core gun ban group.  One has to wonder, how much traction they would have gotten, had it not been for Hinkley’s actions on that day.  It’s interesting to note that the NCCH in the early 80’s and before the Brady’s had about 100,000 members. Now? Under the soft sell strategy of the Brady machine – it boasts millions.

None the less – Sarah Brady has passed. In sticking with the old admonishment from my Dear Mother – “If you ain’t got nothing good to say – don’t say anything at all”.

There are some people, when they die, that the rule “If yout have nothing to say, don’t” does not apply. There are some people that if you have nothing good to say, should be said loudly. Dead Ted Kennedy for one. I’m going to say the same for Sarah Brady. Good riddance to the totalitarian crone.

Wish that I had Bill Gates’ money to run an ad campaign for how many have died because they were essentially deprived (by restrictive gun laws a la Chicago, NYC) of the right to defend themselves. Would that we could make people (Rotties already know, like all those from Rio Linda as Rushbo would say) aware of how much blood is on the hands of the gun grabbers.

oh, I really don’t like to speak ill of the departed unless they really REALLY deserve it….like Hitler and Stalin and Dahmer and other hell spawns like that. Sarah Brady doesn’t deserve to be put in the same category as those creatures, so I wish her family peace and resolution and forgive us believers in the 2nd Amendment as we continue to discredit her and the other gun grabbers……that work will continue with no moment of silence or anything like that.

Reminds me of a reported remark from (I think) Bette Davis. After repeating the advice on saying nothing but good about the dead, she added, “He’s dead. Good.”

It is a characteristic of collectivists that they want the world to feel their pain. This leads them to search out ways to inflict themselves and their anguish on others – the larger the audience, the better. Those Americans willfully attacking the Constitution, a societal framework which made all of their privileges and luxuries possible, deserve special condemnation. In Sarah Brady’s case I have sometimes felt as though she was being used in this process, but we are all adults, or supposed to be.

Her efforts would likely have born much more fruit if she had focused on the mental health issues which impel people to commit such acts. Had she chosen to do so, might such efforts have led James Holmes, Seung-Hui Cho or Adam Lanza down a different path? We will never get to know. But we would certainly have different things to say about her passing.

It seems a shame to remember them this way, since her husband served as press secretary to Reagan, a laurel I might have sought to preserve, not defame.

You choose to single out a woman who got to experience her husband, the love of her life, be shot and mutilated by some fucking nut job and complain about her wanting never to see something like that happen again?

She choose to be a very public figure. Dead or alive she is open to commenting about by her choices and her actions. Refute anything I wrote – which you can’t, it’s all public record – But please get off your “my sanctimonious pretty pony” here, I did not ATTACK her, I listed the causes and efforts she was involved in. I wrote things like the last line of the post – to indicate exactly that I was NOT attacking her, despite the fact that I vehemently disagree with all that she stood for.

She was simply a wife, a woman, a victim of a horrific incident that forever changed her life, and she made it a point to spend the rest of her life to try and prevent something like that from happening again.

Again, That exploited her position and her husband’s access to high level politics to wage a crusade against a Constitutional Protected right – that crusade carries on to this very day, or are you really going to argue the fact that the Brady organizations and others like them are not trying to ban access to firearms?

I mean, just because shit “has always been this way” or that there is a fucking Constitutional Amendment going WAAAAAY back doesn’t mean that it is off limits to revisit and talk about this shit every now and again.

Ah, here it comes…. the “Living Constitution” argument. Talk? Sure, talk all you want about it. When you successfully Lobby the US House of Representatives, The US Senate, and get your wishes granted via changes to laws by the President of the United States, you’ve stopped talking. You’ve acted. Again, by those actions, living or dead you are now open to being questioned, and commented on.

After all, if it was good sense back then and it STILL makes good sense right now, then WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT?

Ever heard the term “legacy” ? Look it up. Sarah Brady, has left a legacy. One that her followers and supporters will continue on with. As I stated in my post; Despite the soft fuzzy feeling language of these anti-gun groups, there is no doubt in my mind and the minds of millions of others what her legacy means to the 2nd Amendment. They want it abolished – they just know saying so is going to generate a tidal-wave of push back. I’d even go so far as to state – if it weren’t for the likes of the James and Sarah Bradys, Caroline Mahoneys, Diana Fienstiens, Barack Obamas, etc.etc. and their continued attacks on the right to keep and bear arms – you’d be close to correct – we may very well not have anything to worry about. But that is clearly NOT the case.

Sarah Brady’s passing will not energize her cause significantly, her death is not a martyr’s death (as she and many others argued that her husband’s death was). Unless someone far more skilled takes over, the organizations she left behind will not flourish – she had publicity that most gun-grabbers don’t have.

Remember, folks, she was losing, and had been for some time. Kansas has declared constitutional carry, that makes six states now. Back when she started her crusade against guns there was only one, IIRC. There are still states that do there best to take our guns and rights, but they are having more and more trouble doing so. Sarah Brady made it her life’s work to take away firearms from US citizens, but for all the power and backing she accumulated, she had few successes and many failures in doing so.

Rest in peace, Sarah Brady. Given that you failed, I can forgive your attempts to disarm me. If you had succeeded, I doubt I could be so sanguine.

Then came ‘Jimma’ C; who is still sucking my air, spreading his evil spawn in Georgia. These bastiches think like they’re f’n royals with they’re dynasties.

(Reuters) – While a Bush and a Clinton consider whether to run for the White House in 2016, in Georgia another U.S. presidential surname from decades past is already on a ballot.

I, personally, have plenty of the living to speak ill of.

because it is a differing viewpoint, it does get kind of mundane talking with people that agree with you 100% of the time.

There is something good to say about her, she spoke for herself and her husband, unlike Gabby Giffords who is callously being used as a tool by the democrats and the anti- gun lobby. She will be discarded once her usefulness is done, horrific injuries be damned. Brady was at least capable of individual thought and action and that is why she achieved the longevity that she did.

My problem with Sarah Brady has always been the way she paraded her husband around playing the poor pitiful couple. The sorry bitch made her husband, in effect, the subject of her own personal freak show – and that was dead wrong.

Glad to hear the worthless twunt is now worm food. Now – there are more that need to join her.
