British nannies set new standard in utter idiocy

Source

An English theme park has barred all single people from entering — just in case they are a paedophile.

No, this is not a joke. Yes ,you read that right.

“We have done our research and, in line with all other parks, we don’t let single men or women in.

So not only is he an idiot that makes Obama look like a MENSA graduate…he is also a blatant liar. Pay no attention to that whining sound you are hearing, thats just four generations of British soldiers in their graves,..at 3000 rpm.

Being aware of Gell-Mann amnesia (aka journalists make bullshit), I thought I’d take a look into this.

Turns out that the article looks mostly accurate. The description of Puxton Park being “west of London”, while technically accurate, is kinda misleading. 140 miles away (driving distance) and right by Bristol is a bit of a trek. If you were from the US, Brendan, I’d understand (“100 years to an American is a long time, 100 miles to a European is a long way”), but I didn’t realise that your countrymen shared that view.

Apart from that, the story looks correct. The website is really shit. This information isn’t in the T&C or the rules of admission. It’s exactly where the journalists say, on the prices page in an “important information” section, nearly at the bottom.

Actually, Aussies drive even longer distances than Americans, so there’s no difference there. The ones I’ve known think nothing of a 12 hour drive.

I concur with Brendan, though — that is ridiculous. Don’t let single people in because they might be pedophiles? Great, lemme grab a friend and we’ll pretend to be boyfriend/girlfriend, problem solved … that is, if I was willing to give these people my money, which I’m not.

Not to be a bucket of cold water on anyone’s white-hot outrage or anything – but the breakdown here seem to be in the definition of “Single” , which actually seems to mean ‘adult coming in without bringing a child’.

    See current statement below (emph.mine)

Thank you everyone for your feedback regarding our entrance policy. Please find the latest statement issued to the media this morning. We listen to our customers and would welcome all feedback. This is a family attraction and would ask all comments are made in the appropriate polite manner.

Alistair Mead Managing Director of Puxton Park, said: <strong>”The main aspect not being reported is that Puxton Park is predominantly an attraction for children aged 0 years to 7 years with 90% of the park dedicated fully to child’s play, which is not suitable for lone adults.
“Some adults may be interested in our falconry department and we offer falconry experience days which are open to all. We have not set out to discriminate against single adults but we take child protection extremely seriously.
“We would rather be over zealous when unaccompanied adults visit us armed with cameras than put children at any potential risk. Even schools follow similar policies with regards to the photography of children.
“Our members fully support our decisions and we have received nothing but praise for our policy including positive feedback from a Child Protection Specialist, who commended us for our child protection principals.
“Within seven years we have only had one complaint about this policy from the gentlemen last week.
“At the time of setting the policy the other parks within the area had a similar stance to us. I have spoken to two or three similar client based parks this morning and they still have the same policy as we do. I’m not going to name names as it’s unprofessional of me to do so.
“In light of this coverage we will look at what other parks are doing with their admissions policy, speak to our customers and review.”

The rest seems to focus on the complaint by the fellow who came to see the falconry show, and was turned away.

..and when asked to name this specialist, and asked if she was a police officer or other official..silence.

Translation: I am lying, and I dont want to name names, as you will call them and find out I am lying.

    Wait,it gets better

A ban on lone adults at an adventure park has been blamed on a paedophile ex-mayor – even though his offences have no link to the attraction.

His crimes have never been linked to Puxton Park.

So one man who was never connected to the park and was arrested and jailed for crimes = all solo men are potential kiddy fiddlers.

Note that the park also bans SINGLE WOMEN as well on the grounds THEY might be potential threats.

If you really just WANT to be cranked up about something, by all means continue.

Again, ‘single’ in this context clearly refers to ‘Adults rolling into a kiddie-park (sans adult-sized attractions) without a kid.’ – which would just be ….weird… anyway.

Aside from that, you’ve determined that the man is “LYING” because he won’t name other parks with a similar rule…

… because it’s completely unreasonable to think that those parks wouldn’t want a piece of this notoriety.

Aside from THAT, it seems that the ex-mayor’s Pedo-crimes not being connected to Puxton Park is significant…

…. because it’s completely unreasonable to think that the park wouldn’t want the next Surprise-Pedo’s crimes to be linked to their park.

Here in the US, we don’t allow lone adults to wander Preschool playgrounds either – I’m giving you that one, just in case you were about to run low on outrage.

    – – Oh, and Here… just on the topic of statistical irrelevance.

I’m fairly surprised we don’t hear about the same thing here.

I’ve been to a park, with my nephew, and had one woman angrily chastise me for “taking pictures of her kids!”

I’m sure she feels “safer” with all the CCTV cameras spying on her all over the place.
