I guess someone has to pick up the slack while the rest of Management™ is presumably out buying me Christmas presents…

At any rate, this is an Open Thread.

This follows the train of discussion from the comments on my last post. Follow the evidence, wherever it may lead, no matter how uncomfortable the final conclusion makes you.
…………………………

It is true that I am a blog slut. I write or comment at several blogs, and the discussions from one, influence what happens at another. Over at BELMONT CLUB we were discussing the insane situation we have politically; and trying to come to a conclusion as to what the future holds. I found myself answering several different questions, and stringing points together. If you don’t mind, I will bring the string for the LC’s to ponder. Items presented thusly are quotes from those with whom I was engaged in discussion.

At this time, it’s hard to predict what will really happen next fall in the polling booths. And that is frankly the only poll that really matters. [ This was part of a discussion where it was implied that things would be reclaimed in November.]

Truer words rarely spoken. However, we are dealing with people for whom it has been shown that the rule of law means absolutely nothing. Keep in mind that registration fraud is a massive Democrat funded [see ACORN] enterprise, and presumably vote fraud because otherwise why create all those false registrations [150,000 known false registrations accepted by the Democrat Secretary of State in Ohio in 2008 alone]? One has to wonder at what point the legitimacy of the vote count comes into question.

Having spent a fair amount of my career trying to figure out what was the truth behind the actions of various felons, witnesses, and victims [everybody lies sometimes]; I have learned that the first thing to look out for is when people suddenly start acting out of character. People are creatures of routine. They do not change those routines unless compelled to, or unless they believe that conditions have changed and a change is to their personal benefit.

I have been an observer [and activist] in politics since the 1960 election. I won’t reveal my age, but I started getting involved in politics young. Observing politicians gives a certain insight into their motivations. One of the prime motivations of politicians is self-preservation in office.

They do not normally go out of their way to take a stand on anything for fear of angering blocs of voters. They will straddle any issue, talk out of four sides of their mouths [double talk on both sides], and watch polling religiously twisting in the breeze of public opinion. What do you call a politician who has consistent principles and who stands on them? Either a myth, or out of work.

Fear of repercussions at the polls over-rides all. While they may have contempt for us [and most politicians do], they do their best to conceal it behind a smile and fake concern.

Politicians acting out of character indicates a change in the rules, whether we know it or not.

This regime has upset me almost from the beginning. It began to cause grave concern when the Town Hall movement began. What did we see?

Democrats, Democrat party officials, and the government controlled media chose to deliberately insult and attack citizens who accepted what was in fact the invitations of the Congress-Critters to attend Town Hall meetings, and who dared to ask real questions and insist on answers. This was followed by the White House insisting that the Left “push back” against those citizens.

Shortly thereafter Democrat Congress-Critters started having ACORN and SEIU security forces at these events. Citizens were threatened, blocked out, and eventually physically assaulted. The assailants, it seems, have judicial immunity.

House of Erastosthenes has compiled a good list, and we only have a few additions:

1) Pointless sex scenes. Really, we know that there are thousands of sex-deprived teenagers jacking off to those 10 minute interludes that don’t add anything whatsoever to the plot, but the rest of us would very much like to not have to watch two people humping when we could have something advancing the actual story. We’re quite familiar with sex, so if you must inform us that two characters in the plot have become romantically involved, just show us a clip of them entering a room and beginning to take their clothes off. Cut.

We know what happens next unless we’re from Mars, and we really don’t care to waste 10% of what we paid for a ticket to watch something that all of us have done for real about sixteen hundred times with all of the naughty bits cut out to save your PG rating.

Those who need more have this new invention called the Internet to release their, erm, pressure and, quite frankly, Angelina Jolie’s boobs don’t look any different from the boobs we’ve fondled in our life.

2) The idiotic stereotypes of Christians as mindless drones who just want to kill everybody who doesn’t look like them. Let’s face it, Hollyweird morons, if we really were that nutty, you’d have been dead for at least three decades. There are a lot of us and no, we’re not insane murderous psychopaths. If we were, you wouldn’t be around to tell lies about us. You want to be brave and edgy? Make a movie where the words “terrorist” and “muslim” appear in the same line of dialogue. Of course you won’t. Those people might actually hurt you.

Just a couple of suggestions.

The rest of you please add your favorite movie tropes in the comments.

Thatisall.

Darth Venomous has an open thread below and it was mentioned in the comments that Senator Ben Nelson [D/hypocrite-Nebraska] had rolled over for the nationalization of the health care system. His prior pro-life scruples vanished in a haze of earmark payoffs. I commented about his political future, and the future of the health care system when this kicks in. I also mentioned getting clearance from Misha to post something about the possibility of Democrats’ next political step. This is not what I need to ask Misha about. This covers the health care system, and what we are about to lose.

Some of you know that I put out an email newsletter. It has been on hiatus for most of the year, except for the odd edition, because I am taking care of a daughter who had an encounter with necrotizing fasciitis. I turn up in blogs to take care of my writing jones.

I am going to quote from two editions from back in 2006, where medical care was the center of attention. We almost lost one of our family, who I mentioned in the Open Thread. He was saved by both a miracle and a quality of care that no bureaucrat cares to deliver. I also mention my daughter’s encounter with the Brit NHS, which I have laid out here before.

I am a wordy bugger, as you well know. It holds in my own newsletter too. Bear with me, if you will. The journey will, I hope, be rewarded.

First, what came out as the “Miracles and Wonders” edition:

His Wholly Reluctance, The Man-God Marxist Messiah, Teh King of FAIL, He Who Halted The Seas Rising, The Pope o’ Dope & Chains Community Whoreganizer, has chalked up yet another Epic FAIL to polish up his non-existent, back-dated credentials for his joke of a No (Cow) Bell Piece Trinket.

The Communists won’t stop trying to destroy our economy, so don’t pop open the bubbly just yet. (Unless, of course, you’re doing it just to add Eeeeevil CO2 to the atmosphere. That would be completely acceptable.) This is only one battle victory in the Long War against the blood-sucking Leftist leeches that are crawling throughout the fetid swamps of governments and Idiotarian Indoctrination Institutes (3I) around the world. As we saw, Shillary Klintoon has no compunction, whatsoever, in giving away $100,000,000,000, PER YEAR, of OUR money in “climate reparations”. Thanks a whole helluvalot, Fiddytoorz.

Well, it looks as if the rest of the Management™ types have taken an early Christmas vacation – so I guess it’s up to me to start this weekend’s Open Thread™.

Let’s begin with the Mormon Silent Monk Tabernacle Choir, shall we?

Enjoy.

and that even after the High Priest hisself tucked his tail between his legs and ran from the Inconvenient Questions™ that might arise from Climategate.

Dec. 17 (Bloomberg) — World leaders flying into Copenhagen today to discuss a solution to global warming will first face freezing weather as a blizzard dumped 10 centimeters (4 inches) of snow on the Danish capital overnight.

“Temperatures will stay low at least the next three days,” Henning Gisseloe, an official at Denmark’s Meteorological Institute, said today by telephone, forecasting more snow in coming days. “There’s a good chance of a white Christmas.”

[...]

Denmark has a maritime climate and milder winters than its Scandinavian neighbors. It hasn’t had a white Christmas for 14 years, under the DMI’s definition, and only had seven last century. Temperatures today fell as low as minus 4 Celsius (25 Fahrenheit).

That’s unprecedented!

Oh wait, we’re not supposed to use that word in those cases (meaning: “when weather conditions really are unprecedented”), are we?

Thatisall.

So tell us, Algore, are you feeling it yet?

(It’s at the bottom section of the article, but here are a few excerpts with our highlights added. Do read the rest, though)

On Tuesday, the Moscow-based Institute of Economic Analysis (IEA) issued a report claiming that the Hadley Center for Climate Change based at the headquarters of the British Meteorological Office in Exeter (Devon, England) had probably tampered with Russian-climate data.

The IEA believes that Russian meteorological-station data did not substantiate the anthropogenic global-warming theory.

The deuce you say? And thank you for, correctly, adding the “anthropogenic” bit. If only the hysterics of the Church of Gore had the honesty to say that instead of calling it Global Warming Climate Change so they can get their jollies from calling people questioning the man-made component of warming “climate deniers/denialists/Nazis/evil elves/whatever”.

Yeah, we’re “denying the climate”, that’s for sure. Earth never had one and it never changed. Careful with that strawman, lest it catches fire and increases your carbon footprint.

But we digress…

Analysts say Russian meteorological stations cover most of the country’s territory, and that the Hadley Center had used data submitted by only 25% of such stations in its reports.

Over 40% of Russian territory was not included in global-temperature calculations for some other reasons, rather than the lack of meteorological stations and observations.

We can’t possibly imagine what those “other reasons” might have been. Dog ate them? They accidentally flew into the shredder, carried by a freak gust of wind?

The data of stations located in areas not listed in the Hadley Climate Research Unit Temperature UK (HadCRUT) survey often does not show any substantial warming in the late 20th century and the early 21st century.

Is that so? That sounds an awful lot like cherry-picking to us but, then again, we’re not impeccably credentialed scientists like Chuckles Johnson who, by the way, would like you to know that Amazon has such a deal on barely used bicycle seats and, of course, Kindles.

The HadCRUT database includes specific stations providing incomplete data and highlighting the global-warming process, rather than stations facilitating uninterrupted observations.

On the whole, climatologists use the incomplete findings of meteorological stations far more often than those providing complete observations.

No, no, no, NOOOOOOOO! The Science Is SETTLED!!!™

IEA analysts say climatologists use the data of stations located in large populated centers that are influenced by the urban-warming effect more frequently than the correct data of remote stations.

But, but, but why on Earth would they do that?

Somewhere, Chuckles is sucking on his Phony Tail while desperately putting up six dozen “excellent videos” of compromised “scientists” “brilliantly debunking” every single suggestion that they’ve ever done anything wrong. Scout’s honor. Really. Would we lie to you?

The scale of global warming was exaggerated due to temperature distortions for Russia accounting for 12.5% of the world’s land mass. The IEA said it was necessary to recalculate all global-temperature data in order to assess the scale of such exaggeration.

Maybe this time we can get somebody who aren’t interested in only one outcome to do the calculations?

Just a thought.

You know, the way science used to be practiced before the advent of NuScience.

Thatisall.

I hope you are all sitting down.  If not, go do so right now — I’ll wait….

Are you sitting?  (Good, I wouldn’t want you to faint)

Okay, it is down to one last Senator.  The entire Republican Caucus is already a “NO!” vote.  The only remaining hold out is Senator Ben Nelson of Nebraska.  He is holding holding out his vote to end debate and bring this steamy, stinkin’ pile of excrement to a vote in the Senate.  If this thing passes, it will go over to the house and get rubber-stamped by a simple vote and sent up to the president for his signature.  There won’t be a conference because they are too focused on passing something — anything — that they would legalize armed robbery just to say they passed a “health care reform bill”.

Now get your smelling salts handy, because I know you think I am asking you to contact Ben Nelson and beg him to vote to end debate.

BZZZZZT!

Nooope.  I am asking you to contact his office RIGHT NOW and beg him to stand strong and NOT vote to end discussion.

(Do you need to read it again slowly so that you are SURE of what this “Left-Wing Socialist/Communist” is asking you to do?

In bold letters:

Call, email, write Ben Nelson and tell him to vote NO on ending debate.

See?  You read it correctly.  I said it just that way.

I am not the only Liberal/Progressive Democrat wanting this monstrosity to fail.  I probably have a vastly different reason than most of you for wanting it to fail, but the point is, there are some certain times when both the Left AND the Right can actually get together and agree to oppose something — even if it is for different reasons.

This is one of those times.

I am all for health care reform.  I am even for Single Payer much like what I enjoy up here in Canada right now.  I know it could never happen in the US, so I would be quite happy with opening up Medicare to everyone and charging a sliding scale.  But that would be for a different discussion — not THIS discussion.  The point here is to make sure that the CURRENT Senate bill does not become law.

My reasons are fairly simple:  It is nothing more than a shakedown of the American people and a gift to the insurance companies.  The only thing it does is makes it a law for you to purchase health insurance from a private insurance company.  There are no price controls — if they want to charge a single person $1500 per month for a “pre-existing” condition (which could include acne as a child) they can.

All of the back and forth over the past several months about “Public Options”, and all that rot, was just a smoke screen.  The current bill is the exact deal that the Obama Administration negotiated in secret with the drug companies and insurance companies back in August.

I know most of you can’t stand Glenn Greenwald, but maybe this time you should read HIS take on this.  Liberals and Progressives are furious — at least those who are starting to realize what has been going on.

I know none of YOU want this bill to pass.  Very few of us on the Left want it to pass in this form also.  We need to get together and make sure it doesn’t.

So contact Ben Nelson.  TELL him that you want him to stand strong and NOT vote to bring this thing to a vote.
