One good thing about having a Demonrat gaggle of gobsmackingly incompetent imbeciles in charge is that some issues, such as the horror of homelessness sweeping the nation, promptly disappear from news media as soon as the new communist is sworn in.

Then, on the other hand, equally predictable, we have to endure four years of increasingly hysteric articles about extremist militias (h/t Cold Fury):

Titled “The Modern Militia Movement,” the report is dated Feb. 20 and designed to help police identify militia members or domestic terrorists. Red flags outlined in the document include political bumper stickers such as those for U.S. Rep. Ron Paul, talk of conspiracy theories such as the plan for a mega-highway from Canada to Mexico and possession of subversive literature.

“Subversive literature?” In the United States of America? Dang, this is beginning to sound more like the Soviet Union with every passing day. Better hide your Heinlein books, LCs and, we suppose, your copies of the “unreasonably restrictive” document, the Constitution. Just quoting Jugears Hussein al-Chicago here.

And no matter how many times His Imperial Majesty has pointed fingers and made fun of Ron Paul, he has never once feared that a Paulite, no matter how dedicated, would some day blow up his kids’ daycare, much less fly airliners into skyscrapers. Obviously, we were all wrong about that.

But when Neal read the report, he couldn’t help but think it described him. A military veteran and a delegate to the 2008 Missouri Republican state convention, he didn’t appreciate being lumped in with groups like the Neo-Nazis.

Nobody does, but such is the reality you’re facing if you’re somebody voting to the right of Pol Pot. The libtards, being forever cut off from the aid and comfort of reason and intelligent argument due to their severely curtailed intellects, must perforce resort to frothing screams of either “NAZI!” or “RACIST!” when faced with logic. Which is really ironic considering that Nazis are totalitarian progressive fascists and that no party was ever more racist than their beloved Demonrat National Socialist Party.

But state law enforcement officials said the report is being misinterpreted. Lt. John Hotz of the Missouri State Highway Patrol said the report was compiled by the Missouri Information Analysis Center based in Jefferson City and comes purely from publically available, trend data on militias.

Hotz said MIAC, which opened in 2005, is a “fusion center” that combines resources from the federal Department of Homeland Security and other agencies. It was set up to collect local intelligence to better combat terrorism and other criminal activity, he said.

“All this is an educational thing,” Hotz said of the report. “Troopers have been shot by members of groups, so it’s our job to let law enforcement officers know what the trends are in the modern militia movement.”

Why, that sounds fantastically reasonable, doesn’t it? But then why, pray tell, is it still verboten to as much as suggest that maybe airport screeners, just to name one group, should keep an extra wary eye on middle-aged Middle Eastern males when publically available trend data on terrorists state emphatically that 99.9999999% of terrorist attacks have been committed by, well, middle-aged Middle Eastern males. Not to mention that “white militiamen” still have quite a bit of catching up to do if they’re to get close to the 13,000 terrorist attacks committed by Those Who Must Not Be Profiled. So far.

The report’s most controversial passage states that militia “most commonly associate with third-party political groups” and support presidential candidates such as Ron Paul, former Constitutional Party candidate Chuck Baldwin and Bob Barr, the Libertarian candidate last year.

Hotz said using those or similar factors to determine whether someone could be a terrorist is not profiling.

But noting that almost all actual terrorist attacks have been committed by muslim males of Middle Eastern descent IS. Gotcha. How he can let out that kind of blathering bromides without his lips falling off is beyond us.

He said people who display signs or bumper stickers from such groups are not in danger of harassment from police.

Why of course not. You’re just gathering this data to… to… to keep yourselves from getting bored, that’s why. Kinda like collecting postage stamps. Maybe you should find a different job that can keep you busy?

“It’s giving the makeup of militia members and their political beliefs,” Hotz said of the report. “It’s not saying that everybody who supports these candidates is involved in a militia. It’s not even saying that all militias are bad.”

But as much as hinting at the nationality and beliefs of the 9/11 murderers IS the same as saying that all muslims are bad.

By the way, remind us again what this “militia threat” is all about? Surely it must be a vast problem with enormous national security implications for you to go ahead and do to them what you can’t, won’t do to a sharply defined ethnic group so far responsible for tens of thousands of dead, all in the name of their “religion.”

Not everybody agrees. At a “Tea Party” to protest wasteful government spending Thursday in Flat Branch Park, several people displaying the Revolutionary War-replica “Don’t Tread On Me” flag were upset to learn the MIAC report lists the banner as a “militia symbol.”

“That’s insane,” said Doug Wendt looking at the MIAC document. “That is not a militia symbol. That is American history. This is historic. The only animosity” American colonists “ever directed with this was towards England.”

…and with the ascension of Lord Hussein al-Chicago to the throne, the powers that be are perhaps beginning to realize that he and they are beginning to behave in ways that would have made even King George hesitate. Not all that hard to figure out where the next step might be.

Just thinking out loud.

Neal, who has a Ron Paul bumper sticker on his car, said the next time he is pulled over by a police officer, he won’t know whether it’s because he was speeding or because of his political views.

“If a police officer is pulling me over with my family in the car and he sees a bumper sticker on my vehicle that has been specifically identified as one that an extremist would have in their vehicle, the guy is probably going to be pretty apprehensive and not thinking in a rational manner,” Neal said. “And this guy’s walking up to my vehicle with a gun.”

Correct. Then again, maybe you’re not giving our brothers in blue enough credit. It’s equally possible that he’s going to walk up to your car thinking “thank G-d, this guy isn’t a member of the insane clown posse currently fouling up DC. This guy’s more like me.

Either way, it’s disgusting and wholly un-American.

But, then again, Jugears hasn’t yet proven that he is one.

I’m a cop, and I exhibit many of those “indicators”. There’s a Ron Paul sticker on one of my vehicles, there’s a Gadsden flag flying on my front porch, and I’m an unabashed libertarian.

God bless you, Sir. I fervently hope that the majority of our Blue Line feel the same way.

“Come to me my son, it is time you learned the way of the Dark Side.”

“What is the ‘Dark Side’, Father?”

“It is the place of logic borne of self-evident truth”.

    “Where is this place, Father”?

    “Deep within you, my Son.”

“How can I find this ‘Place’, Father?

“You must seek it within yourself, but I will guide you.”

    “Why, Father”?

“For we are Sith. It is our way, for we are warriors of the mind and spirit.
Knowledge is our Citadel, Logic our Shield, and the Sword, our Defender.”

    “Thank you, Father.”

    “You are welcome, young Sith.”

“The MIAC report does not concentrate on Muslim terrorists, but rather on the so-called “militia movement” and conflates it with supporters of Ron Paul, Chuck Baldwin, Bob Barr, the so-called patriot movement and other political activist organizations opposed to the North American Union and the New World Order.”

C’mon, guys! You know perfectly well it was supporters of Ron Paul, Chuck Baldwin and Bob Barr that flew the airliners into the WTC and Pentagon, blew up the Cole and the Marine Barracks in Beirut, set off the bombs in Spain’s subway system. You blaspheming infidels keep trying to blame all those and other acts of terrorism on the peace loving Muslims (piss be upon them).

I’m waiting to see how long before I get a negative reaction (like car keying) to my newest bumper sticker “An armed man is a citizen, An unarmed man is a subject”.

Of course, since I have so many bumper stickers on my car, most folks don’t even look at them and assume that I’m a democrat, since at least around here (New London County, CT) they’re the only ones who routinely have more than one sticker on their car.

It’s time to see about getting some actual armament to go with the bumper sticker. Even if I can get a CCW I can’t use it since I work at a hospital. So for now it’s home defense.

Hmmm… not sure how I feel about the Jolly Roger being displayed by an Obambi supporter…

As for what hilljohnny said about militias, unfortunately most militias are known as ultra-religious, racist organizations. I am not saying, by any means, that all are. I am only saying that there are enough that are so as to cast that pall across many that are not.

Militias that stand for the original intent of what militias should represent are a necessary part of our nation and history.

I don’t think this is an SPLC thing. I’ve got their latest literature, and there is nothing on it in there. Their stuff is usually a little more substantial, anyways. Paulites and Libertarians? give me a break. One of my best friends is a Libertarian. (If you search Ron Paul on the SPLC site, you pull up articles, but none of them seem to be about him.)

There is an interesting quote from the Westboro Baptist Church saying that they’re just ‘loving their neighbor’ when they predict he’ll burn in hell.

I agree. What I think happened is that this report plucked out the scariest prose from SPLC and ADL reports and cobbled it all together with U.S. Army training photos, and some map relating to the predictions of some Vodka drunken Russian gypsy psychic that anyone with a body temperature IQ or greater can pick apart, that nobody on the right wing really believes.
