Memo: Job Security

Distribution: To All My Valued Employees

There have been some rumblings around the office about the future of this company. More specifically, your job. As you know, the changing economy presents many challenges. However, the good news is this: The economy doesn’t pose a threat to your job. What does threaten your job however, is the changing political landscape in this country.

However, let me tell you some little tidbits of fact which might help you decide what is in your best interest.

First, while it is easy to spew rhetoric that casts employers against employees, you have to understand that, for every business owner, there is a Back Story. This back story is often neglected and overshadowed by what you see and hear. Sure, you see me park my Mercedes outside. You’ve seen my big home at last year’s Christmas party. I’m sure; all these flashy icons of luxury conjure up some idealized thoughts about my life.

However, what you don’t see is the BACK STORY:

I started this company 28 years ago. I lived in a 300 square foot studio apartment for 3 years. I converted my entire apartment into an office so I could put forth 100% effort into building my company, which by the way, would eventually employ you.

My diet consisted of Ramen Pride noodles because every dollar I saved went back into this company. I drove a rusty Toyota Corolla with a defective transmission. I didn’t have time to date. Often times, I stayed home on weekends, while my friends went out drinking and partying. In fact, I was married to my business — hard work, discipline, and sacrifice.

Meanwhile, my friends got jobs. They worked 40 hours a week, made a modest $50K a year, and spent every dime they earned. They drove flashy cars, lived in expensive homes, and wore fancy designer clothes. Instead of hitting the Nordstrom’s for the latest hot fashion item, I was trolling through the discount store extracting any clothing item that didn’t look like fashion from the 70’s. My friends refinanced their mortgages and lived a life of luxury. I, however, did not. I put my time, my money, and my life into a business with a vision that eventually, some day, I too, will be able to afford these luxuries my friends supposedly had.

You physically arrive at the office at 9 AM, mentally check in at about noon, and then leave at 5 PM, I don’t. There is no “off” button for me. When you leave the office, you are done and you have a weekend all to yourself. I unfortunately do not have the freedom. I eat, and breathe this company every minute of the day. There is no rest. There is no weekend. There is no happy hour. I attach this business to my hip every day like a 1 year old special-needs child. You, of course, only see the fruits of my labor — the nice house, the Mercedes, the vacations… you never realize the Back Story and the sacrifices I’ve made.

Now, the economy is falling apart and I, the guy that made all the right decisions and saved his money, have to bail-out all the people who didn’t. The people who overspent their paychecks suddenly feel entitled to the same luxuries that I earned and sacrificed more than a decade of my life for.

Yes, business ownership has is benefits but the price I’ve paid is steep and not without wounds. Unfortunately, the cost of running this business, and employing you, is starting to eclipse the threshold of marginal benefit and let me tell you why:

The government taxes me to death and thinks I don’t pay enough. I have State taxes, Federal taxes, Property taxes, Sales and use taxes, Payroll taxes, Workers compensation taxes, and Unemployment taxes. Taxes on taxes. I have to hire a tax man to manage all these taxes and then guess what? I have to pay taxes for employing him. Government mandates and regulates all the accounting that goes with it, which now occupies much of my time. On Oct 15th, I wrote a check to the US Treasury for $288,000 for quarterly taxes. You know what my “stimulus” check was. Zero… Nada… Zilch.

The question I have is this: Who is stimulating the economy? Me, the guy who has provided 14 people good paying jobs and serves over 2,200,000 people per year with a flourishing business or the single mother, sitting at home pregnant with her fourth child waiting for her next welfare check? Obviously, government feels the latter is the real economic stimulus of this country.

The fact is, if I deducted 50% of your paycheck you’d quit and you wouldn’t work here. I mean, why should you? That’s nuts. Who wants only 50% of their hard work rewarded? Well, I agree, which is why your job is in jeopardy.

Here is what many of you don’t understand … to stimulate the economy you need to stimulate what runs the economy. Guess what would happen if the government mandated I didn’t need to pay taxes. Instead of depositing that $288,000 into the Washington black-hole, I would have spent it, hired more employees, and generated substantial economic growth. My employees would have enjoyed the wealth of that tax cut in the form of promotions and better salaries. You can forget it now.

When you have a comatose man on the verge of death, you don’t defibrillate and shock his thumb, thinking that will bring him back to life, do you? No, you defibrillate his heart. Business is at the heart of America and always has been. To restart it, you must stimulate it, not kill it. Suddenly, the power brokers in Washington believe the poor of America are the essential drivers of the American economic engine. Nothing could be further from the truth.

So where am I going with all this? It’s quite simple. My reaction will be swift and simple when the governments impose new taxes on me, or my company. I’ll fire you and I’ll fire your co-workers. You can then plead with the government to pay for your mortgage, your SUV, and your child’s future. Frankly, it isn’t my problem anymore. I will close this company down, move to another country, and retire. You see, I’m done. I’m done with a country that penalizes the productive and gives to the unproductive. That destroys my motivation to work and to provide jobs and it will cost me my citizenship.

If you lose your job, it won’t be at the hands of the economy; it will be at the hands of a political hurricane that swept through this country, steam-rolled the constitution, and will have changed its landscape forever. If that happens, you can find me sitting on a beach, retired, and with no employees to worry about.

Signed,

THE BOSS

I work on this site mostly in the background because MOST of you are alright people — even if there are some areas in which we don’t agree. For that, some of you would “kill me” for being a “Liberal” or “Socialist”, or “Communist”. (obviously you can’t decide which — and most are ignorant enough not to know the distinct differences)

Nah, just a severe fecal reciprocator. Glad to see you up and about Deej.

I really, honestly, don’t give a shit what nationality a person is doing a job, as long as he is competent at it.

EX-FUCKING-ACTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And the rest of #88 hits well too. Except for the illegality of the issue. I don’t care where they’re from, so long as they’re here legally. Welfare whores? Rolling donuts and the moon.
BTW, Deej. Seems like most computers you buy, if you can afford them on a wage like mine, are somewhat less than optimal. Theoretically, you could assemble components and make a far better device. Shoot me an email.

Completely off topic, but does anyone know of a good firearms instructor in the MD area? I can’t hit shit!

Sight picture, breath control, trigger control. (USAF CATM, ret). You can do the nearly entire training exercise in your mind. Learn to LOCK your hand, not increase the pressure as your trigger finger moves. LOCK the grip, move the trigger independently. Align the sights, focus on the front sight, middle of the target is the middle, fuzzy or clear. The sights control where the weapon is aimed, so align the sights on the center of the blur. Fresh clear lungs, hold to prevent vertical oscillation. Smooth press, directly in line with the gun, on the trigger. Dry fire is like your kata.

    fuck all that fucking infringement!

Indeed. What part of “Shall Not Be Infringed” do they not understand?
And how fucking many times was it that W said WMDs? Once. One line. One speech. ONE speech. And that’s all you ever fucking hear. Like that was the only thing he ever said in that direction. It was not. And some know we found SOME hot debris, don’t we? Hmmm? And tonnes of yellowcake, ad infinitum. Jets buried in the sand,… More? Hmmm? Fuck it.

My god, man! The insinuations were all over the place. In virtually ever speech Bush made used the words, “9/11? and Saddam Hussein in the same fucking sentence, over and over again. Some speeches those two words were used over 100 times.

And I could insinuate that you fuck goats. Doesn’t mean its true.

Unless you’re Muslim..then I’d ask if you married it first.

I know you don’t know much about communications, but this is a classic example of how a message can be put out without ever having to say it in so many words.

Okay here’s a message. President Bush did not lie.Ever.

Obama DID lie…frequently. His lies about Ayers are a good placer to start.

Here we have Cheney telling us that we can’t find any real connection that Saddam had anything to do with flying the planes into the WTC, yet in the same breath he tells us that there was “overwhelming” evidence shows a past relationship between Saddam Hussein and al-Qaida, and that the case was not closed into whether there was an Iraq connection to the Sept. 11 attacks. “We don’t know.”

    Yep.

“We don’t know”..sounds reasonable to me.

    Saddam financed terrorism,
    He paid suicide bombers
He housed, clothed and fed terrorists.

We KNOW Bush lied. We know Cheney lied. You need to WAKE up.

No…”we” don’t,”we” never did and for eight years I am yet to see incontrovertible, unequivocal proof that he deliberately and with malice forethought lied.

    Prove it. Dates, times. quotes

Show me EXACTLY where he lied. I want it documented, I want you to show me each lie and your proof it is a lie.

    Put up…or shut up.

So I am not sure what your point is. Are you saying that having guns would have prevented crime and murder? Because the evidence is simply not there.

Yes, Allyn, I am saying that.I am saying that exactly…I am saying that for the lack of a few guns in the hands of homeowners, more than a few goblins would be assuming room temperature.

As for the gun laws, Allyn, a few weeks ago we had a GUN BATTLE between bikies and cops in a crowded commercial mall in one of our capital cities.

The day after that there were three armed holdups all with guns. Six rapes, two carjackings..all at gunpoint.

NINETY EIGHT PERCENT of all gun crimes committed here are with illegal weapons..and to buy a gun, all you need are a few hundred dollars.

We have loads of gun laws that do Jack and Shit.

And as for saving lives: From the gun defence blog

    From Local 12 of March 4, 2009

Bond Hill Apartment Resident Shoots, Kills Robber

A Bond Hill man shot and killed a robber who tried to break into his home this morning.

Police were called to the 7600 block of Glenmeadow Lane around 9:45 a.m.

Two men reportedly broke into an apartment there. The apartment owner was shot in the leg. The victim then opened fire on the suspects. One robber, 19 year old Gerald Womble of Avondale was shot and killed in the hallway outside the hallway. The second robber escaped.

One man who was waiting in the parking lot for his granddaughter told Local 12 he heard four or five shots. It’s not clear whether the apartment resident pursued the robbers out of the apartment.

The resident who was shot in the leg was taken to University Hospital and he is expected to be okay.

BTW, Deej. Seems like most computers you buy, if you can afford them on a wage like mine, are somewhat less than optimal. Theoretically, you could assemble components and make a far better device. Shoot me an email.

Actually, I don’t have time for email.

Sure, you could build your own “FrankenComputer” from components if you’d like. The problem I have found by doing that is that you sometimes get unintended hardware conflicts, or certain components fail faster than normal. Plus, it is debatable as to whether you actually “save” money building the machine yourself.

Is it preferable over buying a machine in one of the box stores? Most certainly. Most of that stuff is just plain junk, and is too light to make a decent boat anchor when it dies.

A better bet is to cruise over the the Dell Outlet website and check out the machines there. Stay away from the “Home and Home Office” machines and focus on the Business stuff.

The dirty little secret of the Dell Online site is that most people go to the regular Dell site and start “building” their computer. They pick the base machine, then “customize” it by adding the operating system, video card, sound card, memory, hard drive, and so on, then get as far as the checkout and get the sticker shock. The damn thing is costing about $1500! So they just quit.

But here is the thing. As they are “building” this computer, an actual “work order” is being generated to build that machine. You have started that process regardless of whether you ever intend to buy it in the end. That machine IS going to get built, boxed, tagged, and be ready for shipment.

Unfortunately, there is going to be nobody to ship it to. It becomes an “orphan” machine, and it gets moved to a warehouse for about six months where it sits on a shelf.

After that six months, it then becomes the inventory of the Dell “Outlet”. That machine that would have cost you over $1500 now shows up on the Dell Outlet inventory list for around $350 – $550. The average time it stays in the Dell Outlet inventory is about thirty minutes before some customer snaps it up.

The machines carry the same exact warranty as they would have if you had bought it from their main site.

Here is the REAL dirty secret: You might think Dell is losing big money selling a $1500 computer for $419, but the reality is they are only losing big PROFIT. Dell’s actual cost of building that machine is about $250 — less than the retail cost of the operating system they put into it.

So if you want a good, solid machine that will not give you any troubles, and won’t rip your wallet apart, check out the Dell Outlet.

There are a lot of small computer stores that buy twenty of these computers at a time and mark them up 50 percent and make a killing off of them.

    BigDogg sez:

    Try me.

Ah, that online bravado. Do you know how silly you sound when you do that? It reminds me of that “Say it to my face” routine a couple of years ago.

I am not pointing this out to push buttons, I am saying it because in most cases, these online encounters are a lot like cruising for sex online. You think you are talking to a 19-year-old college hottie and it turns out you are talking to this guy:

The thing is, you can sit there and be as brave as you want with no consequences. Everyone knows that. I pointed that out to you a few weeks ago, and apparently you missed the irony. It’s not like either one of us is going to hop a plane drive somewhere just to throw insults at each other.

MY point here (as if I have to spell it out) is that in a normal day-to-day interface with people, the likelihood of:

    a. getting involved in such third-rail conversations as politics that

    b. lead to tossing around insults which

    c. leads to an all-out-physical altercation

Is remote and rare. Most of the time, people just bite their tongue and move away. Or just avoids the subject altogether.

There is a reason why most people don’t talk about politics OR religion. You will ALWAYS find someone who will disagree with you — and most people just don’t want to deal with the confrontation so they talk about things that they know they WILL agree with.

You do so here — because it is safe. You can be that tough guy that you wouldn’t ordinarily be in the real world. I am not saying that you aren’t, I am saying that people are usually more restraint in their real-life encounters.

We can toss vile insults around HERE all day. We can even threaten to kill each other using the most imaginative and destructive ways we can think of. But once we hit that “Speak!” button, we can push ourselves away from the computer and go on with what our normal average lives. If we choose, we can come back later and enter the virtual world of the Rott and become all indignant again for a short period of time while we fire off our salvos.

    LCBrendan @ 103 sez:

And I could insinuate that you fuck goats. Doesn’t mean its true.

Except that you have all of Bush’s speeches. Kinda hard to get past that. Go back and look at some of those texts, count the number of times he used “Saddam” and “9/11″ in the same sentences in the same speech.

Why is it that every time you can’t counter something you have to come out with silly statements like that? Is that all you have? You notice that I don’t come out and insult someone like that until they have done it to me. I would much rather talk the merits of an issue than have to talk about your sexual preoccupations.

    LCBrendan sez:

    Yep.

“We don’t know”..sounds reasonable to me.

Actually, we DO know. The question was whether Saddam had something to do with 9/11 and every credible investigation has said NO.

    Saddam financed terrorism,
    He paid suicide bombers
He housed, clothed and fed terrorists.

Yes he did. He wasn’t the greatest guy in the world, and he certainly wasn’t the worst. But if you want to use that criteria as a reason to go invade another sovereign country, then maybe we should have gone into Saudi Arabia first. After all, Saddam was small potatoes compared to what the Saudis still continue to support and finance. And they are considered to be one of our biggest allies in the region.

    Put up…or shut up.

We’ve been pointing each one of his lies out for YEARS. In detail. With official reports and investigations to back it up. You just stick your shit-stained fingers in your ears and go “la la la la la” and then say we proved nothing.

I could rub your nose in a pile of dog shit and you would tell me it is pudding, even though everyone else smells the stench on your face.

You are part of a very tiny and shrinking minority now. Most people have opened their eyes and have seen the lies. We are experiencing the results of those lies right now. And yet people like you are scrambling to try and shift the blame off to someone who has only been in office for 45 days.

Yes, Allyn, I am saying that.I am saying that exactly…I am saying that for the lack of a few guns in the hands of homeowners, more than a few goblins would be assuming room temperature.

Then you are truly a naive man. As I pointed out here, we have more LEGALLY owned guns that there hands to hold them here in the US. (that isn’t counting those guns that are illegally possessed by your described goblins) Yet having all of those guns did nothing to stop any of these shootings here in just the past week. In fact, many of these perps were in legal possession of their weapons at the time of the shootings.

Now I ask you, where were all of these other guns out there that would have magically stopped these incidents?

The reality is, that having more guns around and available doesn’t actually stop any of this shit. If anything, the shooting incidents will increase precisely because of the availability of the weapons.

The same goes with any weapon. If a gun isn’t around, a rock, a knife, — even a picture of Rosie O’Donnell.

    It is just common sense.

The day after that there were three armed holdups all with guns. Six rapes, two carjackings..all at gunpoint.

That would be a slow day in most of our cities here. They would start laying off cops around here if the crime rate was that low. And need I remind you again — we have all of the guns.

NINETY EIGHT PERCENT of all gun crimes committed here are with illegal weapons..and to buy a gun, all you need are a few hundred dollars.

ONE HUNDRED PERCENT of all crimes involving guns are committed by the illegal use of said gun. It doesn’t matter whether the perpetrator had legally purchased and possessed that weapon prior to that crime. The split second he used that weapon to commit a crime made the use of that weapon illegal.

But sit down for a moment — I wouldn’t want you to faint: I actually agree with you the banning of guns to the majority of people who happen to be law-abiding citizens is wrong and I don’t support it.

I DO think there should be SOME sane control of who shouldn’t legally possess firearms. (criminals, certain mental instability, etc.) I also don’t have a problem with registration and licensing of firearms — if for no other reason than to establish ownership should those weapons be stolen, misplaced, or used in the commission of a crime. But other than that, a law-abiding citizen should be able to own, possess, carry, and caress as many firearms as they want or can afford without having to justify them.

I also think that if you use a gun for illegal activity of any kind, (regardless of whether you legally or illegally possess it at the time of the crime) then in addition to whatever penalty you would have gotten for hte commission of that crime, you would receive a minimum-mandatory sentence of thirty years. Either that would severely cut down the use of guns in the commission of a crime, or it would at least get the perp off the streets for a very long time once they are caught. (of course it still doesn’t stop those people who are bent on killing a bunch of people before they kill themselves — but then I doubt that nothing will)

We have loads of gun laws that do Jack and Shit.

We have loads of guns available that do Jack and Shit. It isn’t gun control that is the issue. It isn’t the lack of guns available either.

Next was another Dell Precision M60 which after a while I got bored with it and decided I wanted an XPS platform….I sold that one, and bought my XPS M1710.

Retail with the high end graphics card, memory, and other assorted goodies would have been close to 4k, I got it on the outlet for 1800.00.

WASHINGTON, DC – Charles Freeman has withdrawn from consideration as National Intelligence Chair. Another appointee is claimed by the Obama Curse.

Freeman has faced great opposition to being considered as Chairman of the National Intelligence Committee, usually in regards to his criticism of Israel’s policies. However it wasn’t until a recent string of bad luck-a flat tire, his cat ran away, and his grandmother absconded to Tahiti with the bulk of his checking account-that he decided to withdraw his consideration for the position.

Since December nearly a dozen major and minor Obama appointees have backed out from their assignments, believing their positions to have a curse on them. Poor luck and bad publicity have befallen many of those picked for appointment by President Obama.

Then you should have no problems whatsoever in giving me an exact and unequivocal answer. I said prove it…not tell me “we all know”..if they have been pointed out, then you show me one example

Okay, here is ONE example. I hope you don’t mind the Christian Science Monitor.

There are several forms of lying. One is to come out and actually LIE (“I did not have sex with that woman”). Another is to lie by omission. And then there is the lie by insinuation that there actually was a connection between Saddam and 9/11. This was Bush’s form in this case.

Bush wasn’t the only one pushing this insinuation.

Then there were the many lies about WMDs and all of the “proof”, the Saddam’s active nuclear program. (even though most of the experts including those who had direct knowledge completely disagreed) Instead, the Bush Administration “fixed” the evidence…

Now this is where you start sticking your fingers in your ears or spouting off your tired out fake debunks.

Yet the fact Obambi lied is nothing more than the truth. His ties to Reszko, his relationship with Wright, Ayers.

EVERYONE who knew ANYTHING about Reszko and Ayers have completely debunked the Right’s assertions that any real relationship existed between Obama and either of these two men. As far as his relationship with Wright, Wright was the Pastor of his church.

well well, looks like the liberal meme re Pres. Bush’s use of signing statements was more liberal dementia.

    Obama to use signing statements

First your link is broken. Here is one that works.

Presidents using signing statements wasn’t the issue. Signing statements have been around for a long time, and virtually every president since James Monroe.

The ISSUE was that Bush did over 1200 signing statements — TWICE that of all the other Presidents combined — for the purpose of subverting the intent of Congress.

Most Presidents — Obama included in this one case — used the signing statement to object to certain provisions that he — and his Attorney General — felt was unconstitutional. Bush did his signing statements to simply ignore the law he didn’t like, not because they were actually “unconstitutional”. The criticism was that none of the statements Bush signed even came close to a Constitutional objection.

Do you see the difference here?

    LCBrendan sez:

Besides, what’s it to you? Do you see me asking about YOUR government?

We are still waiting for proof that Bush actually served out his stint in the National Guard. So far, even with reward money offered, there has been NOBODY to come forward and say they ever saw Bush in Alabama.

    “Poor luck”?

No, in this case, a “poor choice”. He had no support for his nomination.

Most of the other nominees that quit probably could have survived the nomination process and been confirmed — but it was THEY who chose not to make them the story.

    Heads should roll

President Obama’s clumsy, smirky staff is sinking him — and resurrecting a deflated GOP! Plus: Lay off Rush! And a Brazilian diva, up close and electric

    By Camille Paglia
    Pages 1 2

    March 11, 2009

    Free Barack!

Yes, free the president from his flacks, fixers and goons — his posse of smirky smart alecks and provincial rubes, who were shrewd enough to beat the slow, pompous Clintons in the mano-a-mano primaries but who seem like dazed lost lambs in the brave new world of federal legislation and global statesmanship.

Heads should be rolling at the White House for the embarrassing series of flubs that have overshadowed President Obama’s first seven weeks in office and given the scattered, demoralized Republicans a huge boost toward regrouping and resurrection. (Michelle, please use those fabulous toned arms to butt some heads!)

First it was that chaotic pig rut of a stimulus package, which let House Democrats throw a thousand crazy kitchen sinks into what should have been a focused blueprint for economic recovery. Then it was the stunt of unnerving Wall Street by sending out a shrill duo of slick geeks (Timothy Geithner and Peter Orszag) as the administration’s weirdly adolescent spokesmen on economics. Who could ever have confidence in that sorry pair?

And then there was the fiasco of the ham-handed White House reception for British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, which was evidently lacking the most basic elements of ceremony and protocol. Don’t they read the “Iliad” anymore in the Ivy League? Check that out for the all-important ritual of gift giving, which has cemented alliances around the world for 5,000 years.

President Obama — in whom I still have great hope and confidence — has been ill-served by his advisors and staff. Yes, they have all been blindsided and overwhelmed by the crushing demands of the presidency. But I continue to believe in citizen presidents, who must learn by doing, even in a perilous age of terrorism. Though every novice administration makes blunders and bloopers, its modus operandi should not be a conspiratorial reflex cynicism.

Case in point: The orchestrated attack on radio host Rush Limbaugh, which has made the White House look like an oafish bunch of drunken frat boys. I returned from carnival in Brazil (more on that shortly) to find the Limbaugh affair in full flower. Has the administration gone mad? This entire fracas was set off by the president himself, who lowered his office by targeting a private citizen by name. Limbaugh had every right to counterattack, which he did with gusto. Why have so many Democrats abandoned the hallowed principle of free speech? Limbaugh, like our own liberal culture hero Lenny Bruce, is a professional commentator who can be as rude and crude as he wants.

Yes, I cringe when Rush plays his “Barack the Magic Negro” satire or when he gratuitously racializes the debate over Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb, who is a constant subject of withering scrutiny for quite different reasons on sports shows here in Philadelphia. On the other hand, I totally agree with Rush about “feminazis,” whose amoral tactics and myopic worldview I as a dissident feminist had to battle for decades. As a student of radio and a longtime listener of Rush’s show, I have gotten a wealth of pleasure and insight from him over the years. To attack Rush Limbaugh is to attack his audience — and to intensify the loyalty of his fan base.

If Rush’s presence looms too large for the political landscape, it’s because of the total vacuity of the Republican leadership, which seems to be in a dithering funk. Rush isn’t responsible for the feebleness of Republican voices or the thinness of Republican ideas. Only ignoramuses believe that Rush speaks for the Republican Party. On the contrary, Rush as a proponent of heartland conservatism has waged open warfare with the Washington party establishment for years.

And I’m sick of people impugning Rush’s wealth and lifestyle, which is no different from that of another virtuoso broadcaster who hit it big — Oprah Winfrey. Rush Limbaugh is an embodiment of the American dream: He slowly rose from obscurity to fame on the basis of his own talent and grit.

Every penny Rush has earned was the result of his rapport with a vast audience who felt shut out and silenced by the liberal monopoly of major media. As a Democrat and Obama supporter, I certainly do not agree with everything Rush says or does. I was deeply upset, for example, by the sneering tone both Rush and Sean Hannity took on Inauguration Day, when partisan politics should have been set aside for a unifying celebration of American government and history. Nevertheless, I respect Rush for his independence of thought and his always provocative news analysis. He doesn’t run with the elite — he goes his own way.

President Obama should yank the reins and get his staff’s noses out of slash-and-burn petty politics. His own dignity and prestige are on the line. If he wants a second term, he needs to project a calmer perspective about the eternal reality of vociferous opposition, which is built into our democratic system.

Right now, the White House is starting to look like Raphael’s scathing portrait of a pampered, passive Pope Leo X and his materialistic cardinals — one of the first examples of an artist sending a secret, sardonic message to posterity. Do those shifty, beady-eyed guys needing a shave remind you of anyone? Yes, it’s bare-knuckles Chicago pugilism, transplanted to Washington. The charitably well-meaning but hopelessly extravagant Leo X, by the way, managed to mishandle the birth of the Protestant Reformation, which permanently split Christianity.

She got that last part WAY wrong.

Right now, the White House is starting to look like the complete and utter embodiment of the Peter Principle, starting from the empty suit in the Oval to that bullshit artist Rahm, and his spinmeisters.

Y’ dont get it, do ya Deej? Obama is a sick joke, an appeaser, a Communist, a liar…way out of his depth and utterly and absolutely incompetent.

His massive gaffe over Britain is just icing on the cake..for the last eight years Pres. Bush hosted hundreds of delegations with aplomb and style and grace..Obama in ONE DAY did more to damage relations with one of its most trusted and valued allies…if he had hired a man solely to totally piss off and upset the Prime Minister, that man could NEVER have improved on what Obama did singlehanded.

He did NOTHING to deal with a staffer who bluntly said PUBLICALLY

There’s nothing special about Britain. You’re just the same as the other 190 countries in the world. You shouldn’t expect special treatment.

If the State Department doesn’t support the views expressed, it should disown them immediately.

..and as yet, the State Dept has not disowned those comments.

BHO screwed that up as well

Barack HUSSEIN Obama is a complete and utter fuckup, and this is only the start…we have four years of this idiocy to go. But by then, of course, I know he wont be in the Oval Office…..because I know full well how this will end.

In Obama’s impeachment, with one memorable descriptor in the encyclopaedias.

“Most incompetent and corrupt administration in US history”.

You are either not listening, or you are lying to me. I said show me one example where he deliberately and with malice aforethought lied.

Not insinuated. Not omission. That’s opinion, not fact. I said PROVE IT. So far all you’ve done is show me what people think he said, not what he said.

Opinions are like assholes..everyone has one. Including you..only yours speaks english.

Still waiting for you to prove he deliberately lied. I’ll be waiting a long time, because there is no proof, he did not lie, and all this is, is your opinion and your interpretation.

You cant prove it and you never will.

    Admit it.

Instead, the Bush Administration “fixed” the evidence…

    Prove it.

Then there were the many lies about WMDs

    Oh, for FUCK’S SAKE ,ALLYN.

The last UN weapons inspectors left Iraq in October of 1998. We are confident that Saddam Hussein retains some stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons, and that he has since embarked on a crash course to build up his chemical and biological warfare capabilities. Intelligence reports indicate that he is seeking nuclear weapons…”
    - Sen. Robert Byrd (D, WV), Oct. 3, 2002

“In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members … It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons.”
    - Sen. Hillary Clinton (D, NY), Oct 10, 2002

EVERYONE who knew ANYTHING about Reszko and Ayers have completely debunked the Right’s assertions that any real relationship existed between Obama and either of these two men.

    Oh??

Obama launched his campaign out of whose apartment?

    And this

A review of board minutes and records by CNN show Obama crossed paths repeatedly with Ayers at board meetings of the Annenberg Challenge Project.

The Annenberg Foundation gave the project a $50 million grant to match local private funds to improve schools, and Ayers fought to bring the grant to Chicago, according to participants and project records.

The project’s organizing committee asked Obama to serve as the board chairman in 1995. Annenberg Project Executive Director Ken Rollings said Ayers was not a member of that ad hoc group when the decision was made.

For seven years, Ayers and Obama — among many others — worked on funding for education projects, including some projects advocated by Ayers.

“The specific job of the board of directors was to give out the money,” said Stanley Kurtz, a conservative researcher for the Ethics and Public Policy Center and frequent Obama critic.

“Instead of giving money directly to schools, they gave money to what they call external partners and these partners were often pretty radical community organizer groups,” said Kurtz, who also has been reviewing the Annenberg Challenge’s recently released records.

The board, for example, gave hundreds of thousands of dollars to Bill Ayers’ small schools project. The project promoted alternative education, including projects like the Peace School — where the curriculum centered on a United Nations theme — and another school where the focus was African-American studies.

The funding, according to Kurtz and records CNN reviewed, came directly from the Annenberg foundation which Obama chaired. The project shut down in 2003 after achieving “little impact on school improvement and student outcomes,” its final report stated.

While working on the Annenberg project, Obama and Ayers also served together on a second charitable foundation, the Woods Fund. It was that foundation that Obama referenced in the debate — not the Annenberg Challenge.

Among Wood Foundation recipients were the Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s Trinity United Church, where Obama attended and was married; and the Children and Family Justice Center, where Ayers’ wife Dohrn was director.

A CNN review of project records found nothing to suggest anything inappropriate in the volunteer projects in which the two men were involved. Read CNN’s fact check on Obama’s connection to Ayers

Ayers has strong defenders in Chicago — including Mayor Richard Daley, who called him “a valued member of the Chicago community.”

The city gave Ayers its Citizen of the Year award in 1997 for his work on the Annenberg project.

For Obama, the chairmanship of the $100 million Annenberg board helped vault him from a South Side lawyer to political player. And there, too, is an Ayers connection.

In 1995, months after the little-known Obama became Annenberg chairman, state Sen. Alice Palmer introduced the young lawyer as her political heir apparent. The introduction was made over coffee at the home of Ayers and Dohrn. Two people who attended the event told CNN the introduction of Obama included a solicitation for campaign funds.

Obama senior aide Dunn said it was just a coincidence the event occurred at the home of the two former Weather Underground members.

“A Democrat state senator organizes the meeting at the home of one of her supporters,” Dunn said. “What is the problem here? It is the worst kind of inference and the worst kind of politics to say that says something about Barack Obama.”

Palmer rarely speaks to reporters. But she recently denied to CNN that she organized the political affair for Obama, although she said she attended.

Dr. Quentin Young, a longtime physician, now retired, referred to the gathering as the political coming-out party for Obama.

Young said it was a small group — maybe a dozen or so people — who were being introduced to the next senator from Chicago’s South Side, and that money was raised for Obama at the event.

Sunday, senior Obama strategist David Axlerod told CNN that Obama “didn’t know the history” of Ayers’ notorious past when the political event was held.

Ayers’ past has been well-chronicled and well-known in Chicago. His late father Thomas, a wealthy and prominent executive of the public utility Commonwealth Edison, worked tirelessly and publicly to re-establish his son into Chicago society.

But the Obama-Ayers connection exploded into the national news Saturday when McCain’s running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, accused Obama of “palling around” with a domestic terrorist. The Obama campaign calls the charge “ludicrous,” and there is no evidence to show the two men are pals — although in an interview earlier this year with Politico, Axlerod said the two men were friendly.

Obama and Ayers had a connection not just through the education and charity boards, but in the area of juvenile justice. Obama praised Ayers’ book on the subject in a 1997 Chicago Tribune review, calling it “a searing and timely account of the juvenile court system, and the courageous individuals who rescue hope from despair.”

    Oops.

The ISSUE was that Bush did over 1200 signing statements — TWICE that of all the other Presidents combined — for the purpose of subverting the intent of Congress.

And you know this…how? How the hell do you know what he was thinking??

Again, opinion. What he did was 100% legal. I dont give a rat fuck if you dont like it.

    So what? Were they required?

Yes. I’d like to see them. Isnt Obambi the one who campaigned on “transparency”? And if they are not required as you say, then Pres. Bush is not required to tell anyone jack or shit about his service in the Guard.

We are still waiting for proof that Bush actually served out his stint in the National Guard.

He was honourably discharged. That’s all you need to know.

Oh and Allyn, it’s gotten down to this, but now I am asking. Since you have seen fit to trash his time in uniform, I’ll ask the question.

    WHERE’D YOU SERVE?

We could, however, compare Obama’s military service with President Bush’s…oh wait….

No, in this case, a “poor choice”. He had no support for his nomination.

A whole raft of piss poor choices.

    He’s incompetent

If one really wanted the truth the place for blame for the liberation of Iraq (put that to the vote in Iraq, they seem rather pleased) is squarely with the UN, by omission the naysayers accept the first gulf war and the details of Saddams surrender and as he clear;y time after time gave 2 fingers to the deal the UN should have gone back before Bush2 had to, like when the atomic and chemical/biological weapons had not been spirited to the neighbours (or do you believe the nice scientists quietly disposed of it all and hoodwinked their kind leader and his 2 nice sons?) the real sinners here are the MSM who are just a mouthpiece for the fascist forces and the large expensive organisation who are unable to achieve more than get thier troops laid by underage kids in exchange for the very aid they were supposed to give free and to swap Saddams oil for large lumps of cash yes coffin anus and wankey moon Im talking about you! Where are the so called Liberal panty wetters crying about Darfur??
