If this keeps up, everybody else will already have said everything for me and I’ll have to take up knitting or something…
The Imperial Firearms Advisor has this post that you simply must read.
I like to flatter myself by stating how similar he and I are, and that post would be Exhibit A in a huge stack of evidence if you ever asked me to prove why.
It is said that you have to pick the hill you want to die on carefully.
Well, I have taken a close and critical look at a lot of hills in this world, and the United States of America, as outlined by our Founding Fathers in the Constitution, is my hill.
Literally.
If you tranzi liberal socialists want to take that hill and turn it into a carbon copy of all the other tranzi liberal socialist swamps of this world, you’ll have to drag my dead body off of it first, because I’m not leaving it alive. And with people like Kim up there with me, you’ll be leaving a lot of your commie comrades on its slopes.
And that’s it. No discussion, no compromise, no “ifs” and “buts”.

Amen.
‘Specially since we seem to have most of the guns and ammo …
Special Ed: And the willingness to use them when confronted with evil.
My mother’s family has been here for 13 generations (I’m the 11th), and my father’s family since the 1640′s, that includes an Irish great-grandfather that fled in the 1847 potato famine.
You’ll only get me away from the United States if you throw my dead body into the ocean.

Imperial Keeper
Spent more than a few years in uniform defending said constitution, will continue to do so in civilian attire. Count me up on that hill alongside ya.
Great essay. I need to reorganize my blog list to get back to regullary reading all the great ones like Kim du Toit’s.
There’s plenty of us home grown Americans who will be laying down fire into the bastards as well.
And if they reach the top I have 3 feet of cold steel to insert into communist belly, twist, withdraw, repeat.
Allow me to add my voice to the chorus of “Amen”‘s here and over at Kim’s site.
I solemnly swear to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic…
When I swore that, I meant every word! Looks as though I am not the only one.
Amen. If what you have is not worth fighting and dying for, then what you have is shite. What we have as Americans is absolutely worth every ounce of our effort.
And add another Amen!
“I solemnly swear to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic…”
I took this oath 29 years ago and have never turned my back on the responsibilities it entailed.
Most of the attackers will, as usual, underestimate the courage and resolve of those of us on the hill. (at least I hope to prove worthy to be allowed to fight at your sides, and no finer fighting men will I have I ever stood beside.) A great deal of the battle will be media attacks on the NRA, gun-crazy, war-mongering, menaces to organized civilization that we will be portrayed as. Thank G-d we have so many here who write so well to counter them.
I am proud to be allowed to be a part of you.
By the way, I got some toys of my own to bring along.. *reach out, reach out and touch someone..* from 1000 yards..
And we are growing in number:

What is lost on Americans is that they are now living in a dictatorship. This has been done in a most simple and (almost) ingenious way. Since it takes money and resources to run a typical prison, a much better and cheaper way is to build the prison out of ideas and concepts.
Since Americans believe they are free, even now, they keep missing the point. While believing you are free, the Bush cartel is manipulating you by planned events such as 9/11 to believe that you have an enemy outside the USA, and the resultant fear makes you overlook the real effect that Homeland Security and the quietly “just-signed-on-the-Saturday-that-Saddam-was-captured” Patriot II Act has done to PERMANENTLY erode freedom. The enemy is actually within, not without.
This is a very efficient prison, since it only needs the minds of believers to say “We live in the land of the free” while they conveniently overlook that all those freedoms that Bush has taken away in law in the name of “fighting terrorism”. You are free just until the
day that some law-enforcement agency decides that you pose some kind of nameless threat. Then you will be taken away with no ability to retain a lawyer, nor to communicate with your family, nor to have a charge laid against you.
Why did this happen? – because you are a terrorist sympathizer. How can this be? – your neighbour noticed you coming home late one night, watched you do something s/he didn’t understand, and reported you out of FEAR.
This is the name of the prison we are all being manipulated into ? the prison called FEAR, where everyone and everything is a potential danger. A danger so severe that you will sign away your birthright in order to buy some safety and peace – all of which is an illusion, because the creators of the FEAR prison are the actual captors.
You have been tricked – open your eyes and see what is being done, instead of continuing to believe that you still live in the land of the “brave and the free”, if you are actually truly BRAVE and truly FREE – again, denial is not a river in Egypt. And, if you are truly intelligent, as you believe, use that God-given intelligence to find out what is truly going on.
There is only one reason why you are in Iraq and Afghanistan…..OIL….you don’t have any and you need it to survive!
Wake up!
When I was a youngster, we discovered that if we wrapped foil around a rock, and tossed it up in front of a bat, they would dive for it. Do you think that work with moonbats?
but Afghanistan has no oil, or any other consumable natural resources, and Iraq only holds 10% of the world’s future supply. Bush really picked lousy countries to invade. Additionaly why are we leaveing? If we where there to steal the oil, why not stay and force the Iraqis into slave labor camps? Why even prop-up any goverment that could throw us out? What you say makes little or no sence in this fasion.
Did that already, thats why I don’t sound like you when I post anything. Thats why I accept what I see on the news as hype and crap, and thats why blogs like The Emperors exist. Thats why Al Franken has no audience, and Michael Moore-on has to go to europe to get anyone to accept his drivel as anything other than political fiction.
Thats why people like the Imperial Council, (please see the right side of the page) and others who post here are not willing to turn this country over to people like you.
We all are able to use our intelligence to find the truth, not read it in the news and accept it as the truth, because it was repeated over and over.
You rely on the “intelligence” given you by the liberal media. Your told how, what and when to think. I rely on what G-d gave me, I figure things out for myself, and seek out like minded individuals to share with. I rely on morals, not CNN.
Who is that you were saying is free?
Twirl…the Imperial American Government’s OParanoia Division has just traced your IP back to your house, and the black helicopters are passing through the secret Time / Space portal at Area 51 and will be landing in your backyard in 5 seconds. Don’t resist and you won’t get hurt.
–TwoDragons
Twirl: What Denita says, and we’ll get our masters, the Bushhitlerhalliburton oligarchy, to give us your property as a reward!
Son, you’ve got to start taking off the aluminium foil hat once in a while. We’re not afraid; we’re angry. There’s a difference.
Elizabeth
Imperial Keeper of Killer Lagomorphs
Twister is showing his ignorance of both history and political reality. By the way, my Amen. I don’t remember the US Army telling my my oath was no longer valid when I mustered out. Heh!
Let me add my Amen to the list and volunteer to join ya’ll, that is if you will accept an ex
Canadian Combat Engineer to build some fortifications and lay a few minefields.!!
Well folks, looks like I’m gunna be another one of those that would go down shooting before giving up my country. And even after I’m dead I’ll be fighting. I’ll find a way.
Oh, and Twirl, you might notice (as Elizabeth said) we’re not afraid. We’re just very. very. very pissed. So, please, just drop Paranoia 101, it’s a shitty course anyway.
I first took that oath 28 October 47 and have held myself bound to it ever since.
Shouldn’t that oath be the inheritance of every American? After all, the Constitution begins with “We the People,” not “We the Veterans”. If you live under its protection, you also live under its burden.
LOL I haven’t even taken the oath yet (and won’t for another few years at best), yet I still do my best to follow it

LLL,
Great, you expect me to get all worked up about some striped-pant ninnies who don’t know that diplomacy is ONLY effective if you can enforce your side of the bargain? (ClueBat™ for you, the enforcement is ONLY done with military force) Not gonna happen.
Back OT,
When I swore my oath to defend this country from all enemies, foreign and domestic, I also was given a much higher oath to follow: Semper Fidelis. That means Always Faithful. I don’t know about y’all, but Always has a very specific meaning for me. It means, well, ALWAYS! Not sometimes. Not “if it’s convenient”. Not “only if I agree”. Nope. ALWAYS. FOREVER. NO EXCEPTIONS.
I’ll be on that hill with y’all. Of course, my shooting skills are a little rusty, due to a, um, youthful indiscretion, but I’m not proud. I’ll “pray and spray” with y’all.
My previous comments about Semper Fi were not intended to be a slight, hack, insult, or nasty glare towards any or all LC’s who were not fortunate to be a US Marine. They are merely an expression of where my loyalty comes from.
Semper Fidelis, To God, Corps and Country.
Moonbats… Must… Stick… Head… Farther… Up… Need I continue?
LLL:
You…Must….Stop….Sticking….Head….Farther….Up….Ass!!!
Sorry LLL, You have been fairly civil.

I was wondering how long it would take that “loyal employee who just retired voluntarily to be with his family [sniffle, sniffle, wipe tear from corner of eye]” to start showing his true disgruntled colors.
Didn’t hardly take any time at all. His new book should be on a forced one-hour advertising segment on “60 minutes” any day now. What a great pity that I haven’t watched CBS for the longest time and won’t be watching that either.
As to the rest: LLL, you already know how I feel about the current Foggy Bottom and their Saudi-funded Fifth Column. You don’t really expect me to give a flying fuck what the retired members of it say, do you?
Fox News Taken Over By Liberal Moonbats! Prints Subversive Opinion Poll Harmful To Our Troops!!!

Since I am hogging the post, I will shut up for the rest of the day.
“I solemnly swear to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic…
…from the safety of my keyboard.”
Your oath is now complete, Jesse.
“Since I am hogging the post, I will shut up for the rest of the day.”
The only smart thing you have said all day….
mark,
Do you even know what oath that is? Given that he’s taken it, do you know what it says about Jesse? I doubt it. If you did, you’d realize just how stupid you sound.
Oh, and Jesse? Thank you.
“Do you even know what oath that is? Given that he’s taken it, do you know what it says about Jesse? I doubt it. If you did, you’d realize just how stupid you sound.”
He was big enough to take the oath, Brian..I hope he’s now big enough to take a joke.
Riddle me this- if it’s all about the sweet, sweet crude, why didn’t we just get in line with France, Germany, and Russia, bribe Saddam with kickbacks and thereby gain barrels full of cheap oil? Or how ’bout invading either Mexico or Venezuela? Both have plenty of oil, and either would have been much, much cheaper to invade.
Heck, we could’ve squeegeed half of what we need from your face alone!
Nope, it’s not all about the oil, unless you’re a member of the Order of the Chapeau de Feuille d’Etain.
I just wish you hadn’t been so small as to make a joke about something that admirable to begin with.
Hell, for that matter, why not just lift the damned embargo?
A bunch of Hillary lickers, noted for their ability to lick their eyebrows.
Don’t forget the best part about guns. Alot of the time, they are sold right next to liquor stores!! YEEHAWW!!!! When I was in Washington state, I went to Texaco and a kid about 12 yrs. old working the register sold be an 18 wheeler and a box of ammo from behind the counter. God Bless the USA. Then we got drunk and shot at beer bottles and one of my drunk dumbshit “friends” almost shot me. YEEEEHAAWWWW!!!! Guns and liquor kick ass!
“I just wish you hadn’t been so small as to make a joke about something that admirable to begin with.”
Considering that I’m not an American citizen, I think I’m excused.
Cosmo-
That time they tossed you into the river? They weren’t teaching you to swim.
That time they shot at you? They weren’t teaching you to be bulletproof.
Search your life- you may find a pattern emerges.
You’re an easterner, aren’t you, Cosmo?
Wow, what a crowd of inbred leftist dumbasses we’ve got going today. I’d fisk Twirl’s idiotic rant, but I’m sure he’s just a drive-by troll and I don’t want him to think I’m interested in some sort of debate. As for LLL, Mark, and Cosmo, well, get bent.
Foreign citizenship is only an excuse for small-mindedness if you’re French.
“As for LLL, Mark, and Cosmo, well, get bent.”
Blessed are the flexible, Big Brother, for they cannot be bent out of shape.
Well, Mark, since you’ve decided to take your discussion over here from the “Clown Prince” thread, it still remains to be answered? Are you a zen buddhist, or not?
It doesn’t take citizenship of a country to recognize dedication to that country and its ideals. What you’re really saying is “I’m not American, so I think I can act like an ass.” And you know what, you can. Just don’t think it is or should be acceptable to us.
As for your being “flexible,” since when have you ever demonstrated that?
Then we got drunk and shot at beer bottles and one of my drunk dumbshit “friends” almost shot me. YEEEEHAAWWWW!!!! Guns and liquor kick ass!
Judging from your comment, I’m not sure that your dumbshit (takes one to hang around with one) friend shooting you would have been an entirely bad thing. Sounds like Darwinism in action.
On his last date with Andrew Sullivan.
“On his last date with Andrew Sullivan.”
Who’s he?
Wonkette’s gay brother.
Or maybe he’s actually Wonkette. The similarities are striking.
Kim’s essay reminded me of something I heard a new American from India once say; that if he had wanted to emigrate to Europe, he would have gone there, and he didn’t want America turning into some sort of bad Euro-imitiation.
Exactly. And I was, and am, grateful to that guy, and Kim, and Misha and other Americans who happen to have been born elsewhere for reminding us of something that too many natives take for granted – America’s greatest gift is her freedom.
YEEHHAWWWWW!!!! BANG! BANG! *glug, glug, glug* YEEEHAWW!!! BANG! BANG! BANG!
Cosmo, Hard Liquor and Handgun Night? is over. Go back to your trailer and sleep it off.
Alright, I’ll put the gun down. But if you try to take my bottle away you’ll be picking shards of glass out or your hair, pilgrim!
Living in the D.C. area, I regularly have to play tourguide for visiting family and friends. One of the attractions is the Holocaust Museum.
One of the exhibits there is called “Danny’s Story”, and is especially for children. It tells of a German Jewish boy and his family who, even though the father is a decorated war veteran, graduallly lose their rights and property, and end up in a concentration camp.
At the end, there are stacks of cards and a board for posting them. The children are encouraged to write their reactions. Amost all of the posted comments are well-meaning variations of “Bigotry is horrible. People must be kind.”
Children and liberals patiently await changes in human nature.
Anyway, ALWAYS, in an attempted kid’s printing, I write, “Now I really understand why we need our Second Amendment.”
NOw, along with me, all of you please hold your breath until my contribution is posted.
That’s Roger, not Eoger.
I’ll be there. I don’t have nearly as many tools as the rest of you, but I’ll probably be able to upgrade before the end.
No sweat, Cestus. There’ll be plenty to go around. It’s difficult accurately firing more than two weapons at a time, anyway.
Special Ed
P.S. A cestus, eh? That takes me back …
Emperor, B.C., Humble Devildog, LCs all: I will be proud to stand with any and all of you to defend the American way of life. The good thing about being a knight is that, when the ammo is expended, a four-foot blade and titanium shield (not to mention the ClueHammer of Thor™) can still cut a swathe through the enemy.
Molon labe, Islamist bastards.
Sign me up for a spot on the hill too…I would relish the thought of emptying as many pistol and rapid-fire clips as possible into those who would turn our country into EUnuchistan…we came herer NOT to be there, remember?
–Chris
One of the reasons I enjoy both the Emperor and his firearms advisor are their views on America.
Too many who are born here, generations removed from the immigrant roots of their family tree, see only how far is left to go, how many times we have failed to be all that we could be, what we have failed to accomplish, the consequences of our compromises. All those faults present in our rear view mirror?.
Those who have come here from other places, while not blind to Her faults, see how much farther America has come in spite of the challenges, and how much further She is capable of going with the right encouragement. All the promise visible on the journey ahead?.
Now anyone who thinks that Kim or Misha are starry-eyed optimists isn?t paying attention.
Anyone (Twist, you listening?) who can?t see the difference between Germany in the 1930?s and DC in the 2000?s is proving Bill Whittle right ? American?s just don?t recognize evil any longer because we have been so well protected from it.
Liberal: Why don’t you [gun-owning] fucktards go and start your own country?
Gun owner: We did. Who the hell let you in?
Heh! Must remember that quote.
What is lost on Americans is that they are now living in a dictatorship.
Clearly someone who has lived in the US all his/her/its life, never under a real dictatorship. Go talk to someone who emigrated from China (mainland non-Hong Kong, Macau, or Victoria), Sudan, Cuba. Then come talk to me, kid…I guarantee that if you had lived under what these people had to, you wouldn’t be spewing that kind of verbal diarreah.
LLL, I’m trying not to be snarky here, but haven’t you ever tried reading a history textbook?
It is a na‹ve belief that tyranny can somehow be overcome by unsupported diplomacy Not a single historical example of such a feat can be found without the said diplomacy being backed up by serious firepower, in which case it?s hardly unsupported. The only ways tyranny has been overcome historically has been by means of military victory or revolution?and both include bloodshed. Pick up any history textbook — the examples are all there.
Oh and Mark — American military personnel actually have computers! Like, omigod!
Great post!
This reminds me of something P.J. O’Rourke once said (quoting from memory):
“Let the popularity of the NRA among conservatives be fair warning to the pinksqueaks: not only do we arm ourselves, but we exercise our Second Amendment rights. We’ve got a bunch of guns, and all you liberals have is Carl Rowan, who had a trophy-sized stoned teenager trapped in his own backyard and couldn’t manage a kill shot.”
I would like to think that we would pile commie bodies so high that when all the ammunition is gone, all the knives are broken, and our hands are immobilized by arthritic pain from repetitive strangling, we will be able to climb them to reach the pearly gates.
